Potassium Hydroxide vs. Sodium Hydroxide

Sodium Hydroxide is what I have been using, however, I keep seeing info on Potassium Hydroxide. What is the difference? Does it burn the skin as much?
What are the pro's & con's of each one?
Which is better? ... & Why?
Thanks for the input in advance!

I would like to add a question to this old thread... Could Potassium Hydroxide be used in a roof wash mixture? Would it hurt the roof anymore then Sodium Hydroxide? Basically, there are some people that do not want bleached used at all and I'm looking for something to use. I have Potassium Hydroxide on hand and am thinkin of mixing it mildly and using it with some soap. Thoughts?

From what I've been hearing is that sodium hydroxide tends to be slightly better for petrolium oils while the potassium hydroxide is slightly better for organic oils ... is this right?

If so wouldn't potassium base be better for roofs then sodium base? (Besides the argument that hydroxide is bad for shingles which, I tend to agree to, to a point).
