Pressure regulator

I find myself in a weird situation.I have a 4.8 gpm machine and I use #6 tips to clean decks.Well I am down to my last tip and it is worn. Can I just turn down the pressure at the unloader for a week or two until I can get a fresh supply of tips.I have been reading for years NOT to use the regulator to turn up or down the pressure.I have a dual lance but do not like the way it cleans. It seems to be clean unevenly and requires extra work to get the deck to look like it would for a fixed tip.I have ordered some tips today but it usually takes about three or four days to get here.I need to work TODAY!I will use the dual lance if I have to but if it will do no harm to turn down the pressure to 2500 on my 3500 machine I would rather do that.

JR,

There should be no adjustment needed, the worn #6 nozzle
should be giving you around 2500 with a 4.8 gpm machine.
Depending on how worn the nozzle is.

But if you desire go ahead and back off your unloader to a lower
pressure, it is OK to do that ocasionally but if you continually adjust
your unloader it will probably not last as long.

Hope this helps!

Nevermind I threw a pressure guage on the machine and the unloader was already turned down.It was running at 2700 the whole time. That is why I couldn't seem to get a good handle on the right pressure.I adjusted to the right psi and the thing is back to normal.I guess the unloader knob got bumped or something. The #6 tips are working normally now, I have to stay at least 4 inches from the deck which is about right. Is there some way to get a dual wand to not lose its "ooopmh" it seems like when I dial down the pressure I get the dribbles which is making me lose flow to where I want it.
