Flow is key

Figure out what pressure it takes to clean most of your market. Then add as much flow as your water supply will allow. More flow is always better unless you have an inadequate water supply. You can always bypass pump water for less flow by adjusting unloader. Hope this helps. I use anywhere from 8-18 Gpm to clean. It's awesome.

I emailed you. Guess you didn't get it. You need at a minimum 3000 psi 4 gpm. The more gpm the better. Volume is what gets the work done for you. But you do need at least 3000 psi to push the volume. If your budget allows, go with hot water. Cold will get the job done, but you will lose more $$$ in the long run using more fuel, time, chemicals, etc. Maybe that helps.

Makes a lot of sense to me. The title to your post was "Psi Or Gpm??????" Where did he loose you? Why is $10,000 an expensive trailer set up? I would buy something with a higher gpm AND psi you can always lower the pressure depending on what you are cleaning, but if you buy something with lower specs then that’s it. You did not say what kind of washing you do.

Here's how I learned a valuable lesson. When I first got into the business all anyone talked about was "pressure". I was in the market for a new pressure washer and attended a trade show where I met with a vendor. When he asked what I had in mind all I told him was what pressure output I was looking for.

He pulled me aside and said he wanted to show me something. He took me to a plexiglass display case he had set up and it contained some sort of pump about the size of my fist which was shooting a stream of water about the size of a pin head. He then told me that pump was putting out 30,000 PSI and asked me what I thought I could clean with it.

THAT is when I learned pressure AS WELL AS volume go hand-in-hand. For an average commercial application I don't like to go much under 3000 PSI @ 5 GPM or maybe 3500 PSI at 4.0 GPM. JMHO
