Pump problem?

Today I was using my power washer and the pressure was low and the hose vibrated excessively. I released the trigger and when i pulled it again the pressure was back and it stopped vibrating. After another minute or two i released and pullled the trigger again and it was back to being low and vibrating. I kept using it and kept stopping once in a while and starting again and now the pressure is back and the vibration is gone. I used it for quite a while and it never gave me any more problems. Any ideas on whats going on ? Are the seals going out or did i have some dirt in it or what?? (it shouldnt be going out the pump has only been used ocassionally for about a year) It is an AR sxmv4g40 direct drive with bolt on unloader and a 13hp honda. Im starting a biz very soon and gotta have this thing working right :)

The inlet filter was clear. According to the AR troubleshooting it sounds like it is cavitating. Could be a restriction in my supply line but i dont think so. Ill check tho.

The pump thermal relief (if equipped with one)
could be sucking air.

It does have one of those. And that makes alot of sense. It did go a minute or so without use a time or two. I also used the chemical injector for the first time the other day. I turned it off when i got done after rinsing it without water tho. I plan on switching to a different unloader, one that doesnt bolt onto the side of the pump. That would allow me to get rid of the thermal valve completely, because it would never get a chance to heat the water in the tank to a temperature that would open it.

Pump worked flawless today, dont know what the issue was. Perhaps it was the leak in the garden hose i dont know.

A piece of dirt in the inlet vavle inside the pump will cause this. Or a faulty spring/open valve. Since the problem curred itself I'm sure it was dirt. Use strainers in the inlet side of the pump. You will be shocked to see all the debris over time.

It has one of those rubber washers that has a strainer inside it. I need to get a regular inline strainer/filter thing to put inline.

Check the screen size of the new inline filter. finer the better. Keep in mind the finer the screen the faster it will clog up with debris. Also the valves in the head can have issues with the O rings getting worn and small pieces lodging in the valve body.

An inline filter will definitely help
keep debris out of your pump.

Here is a picture of one by Hypro.
