Pump problems

Last night whlie washing my pw decided to have a mine of its own. I have checked the belts, but when I let of the gun the belts make the worst noise, while water is flowing through there is no problem but if I add some back pressure the pump slows down and the belts start making noise. I'm thinking unloader??? Any HELP????

Yep, Unloader stuck. If you have a guage on it see what it is, bet it is high pressure when no trigger is pulled

Chad replace your unloader asap in the
Interim do not let your hand off the trigger
If unloader is not bypassing this could result
In damage to pump, coils, hoses, or worse
Personal injury ! Safety First replace unloader

Thanks guys!!! I stopped using it after I heard it, decided it was cheaper to fix one part than many parts. Thanks again

Yup thats the best advise you can get. I had an unloader a few years ago do just that and I thought my machine was going to blow. What happened next could scare the bleep out of anyone who ever experience this. The top of my unloader completely unhitched itself from the the threads and shot straight up. It landed what seemed like 10 seconds later around 20' past me. I was covered in water and if that unloader would have blew towards me it would have shot right thru me like nothing. Safety always comes first...

Might have to start wearing my vest around our unloaders. Haven't had one go bad yet (knock on wood).

Great thread and glad no one got hurt.

Been there and done that....fortunately Mark is about 40 minutes from me. He can always tell when I call if I am having a problem with my rig cause I have that fever pitched...stressed sound in my voice....and before I can get a full sentence out....Mark just tells me to take a DEEP Breath. [pc]

Wish you the best Chad in getting things operational!!!!

Explanation of what took place:

Chads unloader failed, when releasing trigger the unloader did not go
in to the bypass mode as it should, this caused the belts to overheat
and damaged the belts.

After replacing unloader everything seemed good, but after about an
hour of washing the belts started slipping due to damage done to belts
when unloadewr failed.

Chad replaced v-belts and everything is working properly now.

If his machine was equipped with a pop off valve / relief valve
this should have blown relieving pressure before other components
were damaged. (See General Pump Tech sheet on pressure relief valve.)
