Quick Connects and the Nudist Colony

Well, Gloria and I worked our tails off all day Saturday at the nudist colony! We did two wood decks, one concrete deck, three travel trailers and one 60 foot mobile home.
WHAT A DAY! No breaks, but lots of fringe benefits! If it were not for the scenery we could have maybe got in one more trailer! LOL
Ran into one problem. The quick connect I have on the dual wand was giving me problems. At one point we could not get it off! Had to have one of our customers come over and give me a hand twisting and pulling and grunting...and yes...he was naked... *sigh* {was not a pretty picture} Anyway we finally got it off and the male side was full of rust and it was dark on the outside. How long do the connections usually last? We have not been using any harsh chems. Luckily we had a spare wand and I just took the connect off of it and put it on the dual.
Anyway, profitable day for us. We used every bit of chemical we had and had to run to town for more. By the way, the metal trailers were bears to get clean. Had to use the brush on every inch and scrub scrub scrub to get the black off. We used Purple Power, Green Stuff and lastly we used the Gutter Zap. The Gutter Zap mixed with bleach worked the best but still had to brush. Gotta go back as soon as the weather holds to seal...yes with READY SEAL. One deck was old and was very gray. What is the best thing to get all the gray off when it does not come off the first time? Will have to rewash and brighten again I guess. Or can we just use the brightener on it without washing? Ok. got long winded here. But needless to say it was an exciting day!

Eat your hearts out guys! Yes, we were in a nudist camp all day Saturday working, but want you to know what a great bunch of folks they were..super friendly..invited us in for a nap; offered us drinks (Wild Turkey, no less) and even had us over for a cook out when we were through (Dennis and I were exhausted by that time). We have more jobs lined up there and there is another nudist camp right next door that we will also be calling on. Looks like it's going to be a profitable and interesting summer (if we can only get that###@@@*** connector to work! you should have seen Dennis with the naked guy trying to get that connector off..missed a Kodak moment for sure!

Gloria,

Are you sure the reason it took Dennis and that naked guy so long to remove that rusted connector was not the other "SCENERY"

Oh sorry, got carried away here lol, what I do with all my quick connects is spray them with silicon each week, both ends, male and female. Um that sure fits in here well!!!!

I will refrain from Nudist comments. (MAYBE) Witht he quick connects what you can do to extend the life is take the malr end and ring it with pliers,DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Right around the middle part of the collar. Don't do this around Dennis. He might get squeamish. What happens is that over time the pressure from your wands causes little indentations on the collar. This will wear them off. Also spend the extra money for stainless plugs, sockets, too if you can spring the money. If they are harder they won't get worn down as quick. (DO you realize how hard it is to give information like this without any innuendos??) I think I need a break.

Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

Just a guy driving around trying to make a living washing trucks, Wouldn't know a deck if it bit me in the hind quarters,

Dennis/Gloria,

I like Jon's idea of silicone. What I have done is sprayed the male end with WD40.
That has worked for me.....then, if it happens again I just replace the thing.

I am now beginning to replace them with stainless steel.....quite a bit more expensive, but hopefully they will hold up better.

Thanks All!.....think you are right with going with the stainless steel ones. I do alot of switching from the dual wand to the hand wand with the X-jet to the extension wand. So probably will be worth it...

I bet you guys looked funny wearing clothes.

Stainless steel should last longer but not forever. The best way to get any of them to last longer is to clean and lubricate them regularly.(every week or 2). I had one before that I could never get apart. I put it in a vice and hammered it. The thing was pretty scarred up when I gave up and is still "connected" out in the shop somewhere.

Now now Dennis and Gloria! I feel like since it was a nudist colony you should have been in the buff too even though you were washing. Just dont let that hot hose rub against you! Ha Ha!

Dennis & Gloria, The burrs that form on the male fitting are caused by the pressure impact when you pull the trigger. The burr is in the shape of the retainer balls in the female fitting. You can file the burr off a few times before replacing the male fitting. Stainless steel helps some but not for long. My solution is to use "flow sensative unloaders" on each washer. This gives zero psi when not spraying and more importantly, puts gradual pressure rather than instant pressure on the gun, hose and the quick connect coupling. The hose with zero psi is limp and a lot easier to move around and doesn't kick you when you pull the trigger.

putting w-d 40 on those o-rings are a NO-NO
all they do is eat at them......spend some of that nude money and buy stainless..
they are a lil more $$ but not much..
