Here is a link where you can put in your last name and see all of the people that fought in the Civil War with your same last name. You can see how your relatives fought!!! How funny would it be if Bigboy's bloodline all fought for the North!?!? :)

I haven't tried it yet, a buddy of mine from South Carolina (where else?) found this and sent it to me.

Same here, half and half. There were several from my home state that had the same name as several of my family members, gonna have my dad look in to it.

My last name is McElroy, out of 326, all listed as confederate. I don't know what's up with that. I love all legal Americans, and sympothize for those that may have been brought here against their will ,and any hardships they may have endured ( back in the day).

Well I'll be darned, all Union and not even sure if any of them are related.

Not to surprised since on my Dad's side they came by way of Ellis Island out of Germany and Hungary, settled in New York City, NY.

Not sure how I can find out since all the old timers on both sides of my family are long gone.

Oh well guess I have to fly both flags now.

Neat site too!

Sorry, 852 McElroy's about even. My wife name pulled just one from the Dakota Territory where all of her family is from. He also recieved a medal of honor for gallantry and severe battle wounds.
