TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 3:07pm, 500 block Lorimer Rd. – Outside equipment fire – Davidson Engine 1 responded to this incident and arrived to find a small active fire involving a pressure washer and a gas can. The fire reportedly started when it was being refueled while still hot. The fire was quickly extinguished with a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher from Engine 1. During refueling of a hot-water pressure washer fuel tank with a 5 gallon safety can, the tank overflowed, spilling a small volume of gasoline down into an area between the engine and the boiler. Vapors from the spilled fuel ignited.

On Saturday, June 29, at around 2 pm, as many students were off for the weekend basking in the sun and enjoying a rare weekend without rain, a fire occurred in the corridor walkway between C and D buildings.The fire started while an equipment operator was executing a routine refueling operation of a pressure washer and involved a powered utility cart. At the time of the incident, the operator had been cleaning the bricks in the courtyard between C and D Building to reduce buildup that puts students at risk of slipping and injury......................Fire damages C building

Good tip Mark. It's very tempting to fill your tank while the machine is hot, or even worse with the machine still running. If you need to refuel, it's time to take a break!
