I just got a call about washing 7 Freightliner Condos 1 or 2 times per month. The lady that called wants her tractor done than I would pitch the idea to her boss about getting them all done. Should I do hers for free to show how good of a job that I can do or should I charge her[help]

Charge her your normal rate, you might offer a discount
on the next wash if you get more business from her boss.

Absolutely charge her the normal rate. If, and I mean big IF, you get the rest, you can either do a special favor for her, like detailing her truck, or give her some cash. My guess, with my 19 years of experience, you will never wash one of the other tractors.

you will never wash one of the other tractors.

If he washes her 7 tractors free her boss will let him wash his too for free.
We are already working 4 months free for the government and next year they will expect us to do it again for free or more.
Charge her a fair price and do a good job,if her boss likes your work he will contact you.Word of mouth is your best friend or it would be your worse enmey.

sounds good

That sounds like a good idea. Charging her for her truck then giving a discount later. Thanks for the help. I will keep you posted on how it turns out

After rereading your post I think your saying they are only 7 tractors total and she just owns one of them.

You had better set a fair price for a bi-weeky wash and forget about giving a discount. In a small fleet like this if they are over the road trucks you will lucky to catch 3 or 4 twice a month. Then at times they will be one you want catch in 6 to 7 weeks, depends on what the fleet hauls.Hard to stay in bussines washing for nothing..........What price are your thinking of charging?...its ok if you do not want to say.

Price?

Still thinking of a price and doing some research but any advice would be helpful. I was thinking $30 - 40 but just not sure yet:confused:

I do kenworths for one company for $35 ea, just the cab, and wheels. But here's the answer to your question...the first wash is always a bitch...and i never make any money on it at the regular price. But, once I have it clean, i start making money on the trucks on the following regular visits. So, never do anything for free, you're probably already working too cheap anyway.

I pitched the idea to the Head shop guy and he was going to talk to his boss, but I have not heard anything so I am going there myself to see what is going on.

I would go there and do a small demo on a rim or tank .Ask for the boss let him see what you can do then go from there.
