Sikkens - Applying to a cedar fence

Deck Works

You guys helped me in the spring with stripping a deck with Sikkens. (the advice was great!) Now I need advice on applying.

I am going to estimate a fence this Friday.

The homeowner is stuck that he wants Sikkens (I guess his neighbor just applied) He said he would source the material himself from TrueValue. I usually only use CWF and S.W Cuprinol oil based on Fence's.

Not too happy with the situation about using a product I do not know about but figured I could use a couple extra $.

Questions

1) Can I apply with an Airless.
2) Do I have to back brush
3) In general - How easy is Sikkens to work with?

Its a shadow box fence.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hi John,

Which product is it that you'll be applying? Cetol, SRD, Rubbol, DEK? Application with any of their line is more difficult but some more than others.

A shadowbox fence and Sikkens..........hmmm I'd pass.

Think long and hard before you give a price on this one, its going to be alot of work!

I'd do it! There's a price for everything. DEK and SRD apply pretty easily. When you get into the Cetol systems it becomes a several day process due to the drying needed between applications.

It is located in Bartlett, Illinois. Anyone who wants it give me a hollar at 847-225-0258. I want nothing to do with it.
