i have been washing fer 6 + years and i always thought i was either doing or using every-thing right. however i need a soap that will not streak....... will not fad.... and will take the dirt OFF.. and be cost effecient..
when i use the downstream it kinda sorta comes clean. but when i apply the soap thru the sure-flo and then come and use high pressure it works better..BUT it makes the trks streaky.. windshields look like poop..
what do you guys use? how much do you use? how do you apply it? how many $$ do you spend for 55 gal?
ps: i dont brush and the customers and really happy with my work however i need to make it easier on myself.

Dan,

I don't do trucks but know that if you use DI water it will stop those windows from looking bad, dries spotless and I believe the trucks also dry without streaks.

Scott Stone can help you much better here and also ask Ramon how he set up his rig. He uses DI to wash and rinse and the soap he uses does wonders without brushing.

If he does not reply let me know and I will give you his Email address.

Dan,

I think your are thinking of Distilled water... this is De-Ionized water (DI for short). I believe you can get the systems through Culligan (sp?) and other water purification outfits. The idea is it pulls the minerals out of the water so when you go to rinse they will not be on the surface you are cleaning. We you Zep Truck wash detergent and buy acid from either Zep or Hotsy. Nasty trailers are typically cleaned with sodium hydroxide, followed by acid initially then we hit them with the twin chem (soap then acid) thereafter.

Deionized(DI) water is produced by canisters shaped much like hydrogen tanks. They are filled with resins that take out all minerals and solids which gives you 100% pure water. The tanks are in line with the garden hose and introduced into the water supply(water tank). Each canister should produce about 4,000 to 4,500 gallons of water for a spot free wash. They cost anywhere from $100.00 to $200.00 each and are rechargable. The set up is between $300.00 and $400.00. One of our customers told me yesterday that he uses a couple of squirts of palmolive liquid detergent in 5 gallons of water when he rinses and it works great. Haven't tried it but it's worth a try.

The canisters last according to the hardness of your water. I am happy to get 600 gallons from mine, but I only pay 37.50 a bottler for it as well.

You have to be real careful with de-ionized water. It will eat the steel in the coils of a hot water unit. On all machines it will eat the head of the pump, the unloader, and the springs in the valves. I do not recommend running it thru your pump. I recently sold a hot water unit with Stainless Steel Coils. The coils cost $3000 for a standard 18inch coil. They are using De-ionized for parts cleaning because of it's corrosive properties. They use it to etch the metal before painting so the paint will stick good.

I had a rep for Eaochem willing to sell 55 gallon drums of Glowry for 165.00 delivered. I have heard it is a good soap. I recently switched to a different soap from a local rep. As for DI water you don't need hot water to wash trucks here in so. cal. in fact I see no real benefit. As for DI water eating pumps I believe it but I have never had a pump or unloader go out in nearly two years and I use it every day. I can't imagine washing without it. I pay 40.00 for two tanks that do 1600 gallons from Ionics. 1-800-9water1 is their phone number.
