Sitting in my home office I hear the sound of a pressure washer running so I take a walk to see what is going on. A few houses away I come upon this scene. Two guys with a Lowes special washer with a brand new Toyota Tundra pickup truck. They were downstreaming ordinary household bleach and spraying down the windows and trim. They didn't seem to be trying to hit all of the brick but got a lot of it.
The guy on the peak of the roof climbed the ladder and then scrambled up the very steep pitch and wedged himself behind the chimmney and proceeded to blast it. He then climbed up to the peak to get a better angle and proceeded to blast the bleach solution at the side of the chimmney while his buddy at the top of the ladder just got soaked with it. He then got in line with the chimmney and slid down the roof and was behind it and screamed to his buddy that he would slid right off if he got out on the wet stuff on the way back to the ladder. His buddy held the pressure hose and with it rapped around the chimmney the guy up top rappelled down using the hose as his safety line. They never rinsed anything with water. Just let the bleach dry.
You may not be able to see it but the roof had algae staining and after it dried there was a nice stripe right down the middle of the roof where the bleach from the chimmney cleaning had dripped down. Similar areas near dormers left some interesting patterns on the roof. I am sure the owners didn't sign up for a roof cleaning.
Just thought I would share.
