Trailer set up

I am in the process of setting up my first trailer. I will be using a 275 gallon cube tank, fed by 3/4" hose on a reel. I will have a hot water unit and a cold water unit each with their own HP reel. I will be using the tank as a buffer tank with the unloaders dumping back to the tank. I have a lot of questions...What size/type water lines do I need to feed the PWs? What size for the unloader return lines? Does anybody use the PEX tubing? Where is a good place to get the right size fittings? Do I need brass or stainless, or will plastic valves & fittings do? I live in the mid-south, so temps will be hot most of the year...

Sonny,

What gpm are your pressure washers? Are they belt drive?
How long of a run from water tank to pump inlet?

Mark, my cold water is 3300/3gpm & my hot water is 3500/5gpm. I have 100' of 3/4" supply. I am thinking of using 1" line from my supply reel to my buffer tank. 1" line to both of my PWs, unloaders dumping back into the tank. I will put a tee inline somewhere so I can winterize when needed. I want to be able to remove my cold water for portable use and feed directly from my supply hose too. 6x10 single axle trailer. I'm going to find a place for a 10 gal tank & put a chem educator qd at my hose reel. Cold water is direct drive, hot water belt drive Landa.

Mark, I just wanted to give you a heartfelt thanks for taking the time out of your day to help me with my newbie questions, knowing I could never come & physically show up at your shop. ( because it would be about a 26 hour drive for me. ) thanks again. True professionalism!

Well, I think I figured it out. Last weekend I picked up my new pressure washer. It is 4000/7gpm belt drive. Since it is a dual line skid, I'm not going to be mounting my cold water unit. I will use a 1" line from my buffer tank, and set it up where I can supply from my 3/4" garden hose or buffer tank. I also am putting in a tee so I can winterize when needed. Thanks for all the tips guys!

Sonny,

Yes based upon your rated GPM I would suggest minimum of 1" hose from
water tank to pump inlet. What brand and model pump? Is the inlet 1/2" or 3/4"?

We like to use king nipples/ barbs from a 3/4" inlet to a 1.5" barb, they provide
adequate flow with minimal restriction.

Also don't forget a strainer to keep debris out of pump inlet.

I'm guessing this mean your using 1.5" feed hose? All the way from tank, or just from filter/strainer to this barb? Sorry to butt in on the thread, just curious haha
