Trash Trucks

I stopped at the local trash company the other day to see about washing the big trash trucks. The man told me a guy was washing his trucks for $12.50 per truck. He has 25 trucks. I think this is what you guys were talking about killing our business. Also when it needed an acid wash he charged an extra $6.00. I can't make a living a that price.

$25.00 sounds more like it. Although he is "washing" for $12.50 which sounds liek a rinse job and the owner doesn't are about the quality. Find the accounts where they do care and will pay for it, they are out there.

The guy is likely washing with a car wash soap,brush and garden hose and doing 1 per hour.$12.50 an hour to him maybe a lot of money,especially if he doesn't have insurance,business license or other overhead.
I get $35 for trash trucks around here.

I second the 35 dallors if not nasty,nasty to me depends on how much higher from the 35.......35,45,55,ect.

If washed weekly and traveling only on payment I can see where some would wash them for 12.50 plus the extra 6 for a acid wash.By stating when needed I take it its up to the owner when they needed a acid wash which to me means not so good of a wash job at the 12.50 rate.

Yes it hurts our market when any of us drop below the marketing price that the truckwash charges.I had rather take my time and try to do a good job at the truckwash price as to bust #ss in a hit and run 12.50 wash job.

$35 per truck bi-monthly+travel to some locations.I do not feel this is at all taking advantage of the customer due to the fact these trucks see alot of dirt road driving time.If these were street truck that only had road grime the price might be somewhat lower but not as low as $12.50 or even $18.00 per unit.
The customer is happy with the price and end result.

It doesn't matter if your a one man rig or have several rigs you can only wash so many trucks in a days time.In alot of cases owning several rigs is nothing more than suppling someone a job.They have to cut prices to pay for all the exp. and lobar cost it takes in owning several rigs.A business owning two rigs and charging a fair price can make more profit than someone owning several rigs at cut rate prices.Myself I like charging truckwash prices as it is a fair market price and it saves the customer from taking it to and from a truckwash.It not only saves them in fuel and wear&tear it also saves the time a driver has to set in line for a truckwash.What if all the truckwashes started charging what alot of the mobile washer is charging...some would lose alot of businesses.

Hey if you can the most you can get for a truck wash no matter if it is a refuse truck or a taxi cab go for it as long as you give the customer what they are paying for and they are happy with your service.

Most of us acid jerks either use HF acid or PH acid,both are made for different jobs.Like soaps they make several different name bands in which to buy,as long as it has HF or PH on the ladel its acid.Like soaps some acids are made better than others,you'll have to buy a few different bands as to see which one works better for you.

Thanks Larry. My buddy the landscaper wants me to clean his trucks/mowers because he is, self admittedly, too lazy to do it himself. I get off work after he is done for the day and drive right past his shop. The way I see it, I miss the rush hour and make a few bucks 6-8 months a year.
