Hey Everyone,
This is Kenneth. Like I said in my reply to the "one of those newbies" post, I'm currently in the Navy doing six months in the Middle-East. I get back to VIrginia, where I'm stationed in November and I'll be out of the Navy and heading back to Wichita, Kansas in Feb. I'm looking to invest the money I save out here in starting a pressure washing business and would like any advice some of you experienced operators have to offer. Basicaly, I'd like to know which equipment's worth investing in, and how much is overkill or unnecasary. I'm planning to do mostly residential and hopefuly some comercial, since my only experience in power washing has been flat work. I'm figuring on gettin a 3000psi machine with a heater but I'm not sure which bells and whistles are needed and which ones aren't. Also I'd like to hear from anyone from the Wichita area that can give me a heads up on what the market looks like there. Thanks to anyone who replies. Kenneth Davis AE3 USN

I dont mean to be stupid here but how and why are you posting on this pwn about pressurewashing when you are on a "boat"?

Why would you want to get into this field and not further your trade you got in the Navy?

Im not syaing you arent who you are Im just a lil. confused.

How is are boys doing over there?
Did ya launch any bad ones there way?

How did you find this site?

You can do a search on here and the WWW to find out what is "the best" to buy.
We can only give you advice on what we use and everybody is going to have a dif. opinion .For the most part everybody has a dif. machine so they will only tell you that theres is the best .Get a "blast master magazine " It has tons of info.

I hope you get all the info. you need to get a great start .
But if I was 'nt in this field and had experience in A trade that the Navy offered I would jump on that enstead of this.

As you may well know this is just my opinion and I dont speak for everybody.

So how is the "war" going anyways?????

Hey Again,
I'm not actualy on a ship. I'm an aviation electrician and this is a fly over detachment for me. I stay in barracks on base but our helo's and gear are at the airport here in Bahrain so we ride to and from base for work. I guess things are going well enough over here. My squadron is mine countermeasures so we haven't launched anything at anyone. We clear mine fields so the guys that do launch stuff can get in and do it. The reason I'm not staying in the navy is because I want to be near my son and I'm not staying in my field because since the attacks the aircraft industry's not doing much hiring. I worked on the side a little in VA doing flat work and liked the job and like the idea of working for my self. Thanks for the reply and good wishes. I have other questions but there are other people who need this comp. Talk to y'all later.

Kenneth,
Being an ex Navy man myself with time served in Lebinon Beriut(83-84) I proudly served my country as you are doing now.

I was a Boatswain mate 3rd class and I used some experiences there such as painting my ship while being hung over the sides out at sea with the sharks lurking around in the waters below to parlay over into the powerwashing field.

Its a good business to be in but you have to be willing to work hard to make it in this field. There is no "Skating" here like there can be in the armed forces.(You know what I'm talking about)

I started with a cold water 4gpm 3000 psi machine and a whirl-a-way surface cleaner. Today I have 5 powerwashers, 2 surface cleaners, 2 trucks and a trailer with 2 partimers to help with the work load.

A hot water powerwasher is great if you can afford it. If not then the above mention powerwasher should be sufficient. Definetly purchase a surface cleaner and a couple of wands to go with your powerwasher. Get a contractors License if needed in your area and Don't forget to get Insurance to cover yourself.(Shop around for Insurance because prices will differ greatly here)

Last but not least put whatever money you have left aside to pay for advertising and then GO FOR IT. Being a Navy man yourself you can do it if you really want to.

Also go to this and other bb's such as www.xxxxxxxxxxxx.com www.dcs1.com www.deckcare.com to further your education in this field. Check out the search engines to on some of these bb's to help you with specific question you may have.

And as always post any questions that you may have and us here will try to help you along as others has helped us.

Good Luck
