Unit will not start

I have a Landa hot water unit. Sometimes the unit will not start-I turn the key and nothing, not even a click. We get it started by using jumping cables. I thought it may be a dead battery; however, I had it tested and it was good. The battery and my unit are only 4 months old. Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem? Thanks!

The Starter solnoid goes bad quite often. When they do I replace them with a Ford solnoid from the local Auto parts store for about $10. They are higher amperage and they last longer and cost less.

Mine went bad too about a month ago thought it was the battery also, found out it wasn't was clueless. Our landa is two years old and other that a generator going out that we hadn't even used( still under warrenty thank goodness) we haven't had any problems, well that is until yesterday.Seeing as to how the locals didn't want to repair my switch for two months because I hadn't bought it from them and could only get to it when they could between thier regular customers,I decided it was no big deal I'de just pull start it, no problem right? RIGHT! Wrong the string broke....xxxxx..... on a job...#### anyway as my husband and son and a good friend were panicing not to mention the customer I calmly took off the front rethreaded the rope that was left and back to work we go

If your RPM is too low the Generator will not put out any voltage. Also the generator can be repaired if it is bad . Check the belts on it to see if they are loose.

Hey Wiz, I had this happen today on my first big fleet contract. I was about 2 hours into it and had to shut my unit off for about 15 minutes. When I returned, nothing, not even a click. I traced all the wires down and made sure every thing was connected and tight. Then I remembered reading this post (a long time ago) and decided to jump the solnoid. Wow it worked again! Guess I'll be replacing it this week. What kind of Ford solniod do you use. I have an 18 hp B&G Vangaurd.
Thanks for all the Tech Tips along the way.
Jim

On these machines if you forget and leave the key on it will kill the battery. My suggestion is to add a light to the system that reminds you that the key is on. It is easy to install. Add it to the wire that has power when the key is on.
