Unloader Problems

Ive got an RK-21, some times it doesnt want to come out of bypass. If you pull off the wand drain it and put it back on it will work. So I have an extra unloader in stock and replace it. Now things are even worse. The machine doesnt want to make max psi without cutting off and going into bypass. Ive adjusted to the optimum. The best I can get out of it is 2800psi. I was better off with the old unloader. I guess you will need some specs to make a diagnosis. 3000psi/5.5gpm, 12v boiler, TS2021 pump, K7.2 unloader. 5.5 tips. [help]

Anyone got any answers????

Thanks

K-7 unloaders are kind of finicky!

You can not always go by the book on what K-7 works with what GPM when you are going through heating coils, hose reels, long hose lengths etc.

If the unit is cycling with the new unloader I suspect it needs a smaller bypass.

This is a VERY COMMON ordeal when changing K-7 unloaders You probably need to take the bypass port, and orfice from your old unloader, and put them in the new unloader.

Feel free to call either myself or Jason at 1 800 292-3279 for technical advice.[hand]

Mark and Jason, Ive already done that . Ill dig around in the used parts bin and see if I can find the next smaller size.

To those who might be interested. I fixed the problem. The new unloader wouldnt work properly. Put the old one back on . Made sure pressure side or outlet was #2 and bypass was #1. This seemed to work. The new unloader has #2 and #2 but inside outlet was a stainless cone which was larger than the original . This seemed to change the flow rate. Well everything works good now.

The "stainless cone" is a bypass orfice, it is easily removed by inserting a small drill blank in to the whole and wiggling until the orfice pops out.

Hope all is well now!
