What are you using to clean a roof?

We pay $1.10/gal if we buy 50 gal or more and we get it for .90/gal if we buy 1,000 gal or more for the larger commercial jobs. With gas prices being high and somewhat unstable, the SH prices fluctuate at times too.

I think the chlorine is really hard on the shingles and what are you treating them with
after p/w?

Do you have any basis for this thought, or is it just something you "feel"?

Most of us treat them with water after CLEANING them, since most of us don't p/w them (which is so many HUNDREDS of times worse for the shingles than chlorine could EVER be). We low-pressure spray a sodium hypochlorite solution on the roof, rinse it off with garden hose pressure, and get paid.

the chemicals could not ever be as bad as what the mildew does to the limestone filler in the shingles.see the mildew feeds on the limestone which in turn prematurely breaks down the shingle

From what i am reading it seems that to wash roofs all you need to do is spray the roof with Sodium Hypochlorite and then rinse off ?? I have never done a roof before so i am just curious if that is the basic procedure and can i do this from the ground with an x- jet ??

I dont like the x-jet , but if you apply with a ag pump , like a shurflo 1.8 @60 or the one I use a Delavan 5800 (5.3@ 60 psi) with a 5/8 hose , you can knock um out quick
