What Sealant Should I Use???

Everyone,

I am new to the forum. I have joined because I am looking for some assistance. We put up a cedar fence last fall and would like to stain the fence to maintain the natural wood look. We have been looking at Olympic and Superdeck as our choices, but we aren't sure which one to choose. We would like a product that will last as long as possible. We live in North Dakota so this fence will see some harsh temperatures in the winter.

We have been considering staining the fence ourselves, but we would like a few pointers before we proceed. Should we brush or spray? Do we need to pressure wash the fence before we stain? We have 250 feet of fence to stain so anything that will speed us up would be helpful. Also, we have been considering hiring a contractor to come and stain the fence for us, but we're not sure where to find someone that has experience doing this. What can I expect to pay for a job like this? Any thoughts or contacts would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Pressure Wash - absolutely with chemical cleaner and brightner

Spray or Brush - I'd spray

Cost - Expect to pay btw 1700 - 2300 based on the type of stain used.

Stain Choice - I'd go Sherwin Williams.

I'd highly recommend hiring a professional contractor. This is not a job a homeowner should tackle.

I would use olympic maximum sealant it comes in a green can it would do the best out of the 2 products.I use it daily and have not had any complaints about it. I say if I was you I would spray it on with a pump up sprayer and wipe off any runs as you go along .You will be proud when the job is finish.Always wash before u seal...
