Kids left the net on all night .... when I got to the computer the fax phone was making a weird noise.( seperate phone) Norton Anti didnt turn on ( it comes on everynight for a scan) so I closed everything and logged on to the internet .. Then poof I had 58 web windows open all at once and everytime I tried to close them it did it again. The only way I could make it stop was to push the off botton on the tower. I ran Norton but there was not any virus. So what the heck was that all about?
any body have a clue?

and one more thing >>

I know I have a ton of them .. I deleted it before but I cant remember how I did it ............ NOT history ... but the internet temp. files .............

and how can i set that up so it can delete itself .. can that be done?

Dan in the tools box on the top of the web browser you can enable delete temp files on exit. That may help. Also if you go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, clean disk. this will allow you to delete temp files on command.

Hope this helps.

I recommend an occasional cleanup for all drives. Be prepared that it can take some time to perform. Here's how:

Open windows explorer.
Right click on drive.
Click properties.
Click on disk cleanup.
View what can be cleaned up, ensure box is checked, and do it.

Click tools.
Run a thorough scan disk. Check that the automatically fix errors is selected. This can take an hour or more, depending on how many errors is found.

Run defrag to free up wasted space. This can take awhile too.

You can see in the tools box how long it has been since you last ran the utilities.

Scan disk should be run at least every 6 months.

Defrag should be run at least once a month.

If you have virus s/w running, you'd best shut it off before running these utilities. Also shut off anything running in the background. Shut off screen saver as well.

After the cleanup is complete, it is ok to turn screensaver back on, and reboot your computer.

Now would be an ideal time to make a backup....hint....hint!
