Which Quickbook Program to buy or another?

Ok friends,

I'm going to be purchasing one of these Quickbook programs real soon. I went to their website and answered some questions to figure out which product I should by. The "Basic", the "Pro", or the "Premier(i think)". After answering the questions they suggested just the Basic package.

Or do your suggest someother program?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Roy

As far as accounting software goes, Quickbooks is great. Dont bother with the Premier........its out of our league.

I have used Quickbooks Pro for five years now.

Never tried the basic, but it would probably meet your needs. Look at the charts on their website www.quickbooks.com and decide if you need any of the features that Pro offers.

We use the PRO version. There was a matrix online at one point that showed you feature for feature what the differences were. When you do it, think about not just what you need today, but in 6 months, a year, two years, etc.

If you see yourself needing the features in PRO within a year, I would get it now so you don't have to upgrade mid-season. If not, you can always upgrade later if you want the features.

Just my .02 worth.

I've got the best one!

My wife! She takes care of everything! I just make it and she manages it! Although I was considering a test run for myself of Easy Route Plus from the ad in New BlastMaster Mag.

Go with Quickbooks Pro.

Just one word, before setting anything up be sure you read the whole book, somethings once you do it cannot be undone.

I have been using Easy Route for better than 3 years and can't be without it. The program is my best employee.

jon,

my dad said nothing about reading books to learn how to do things! lol

heck that scares the heck outta me!

but to be honest, that is some good advice. i genrallly browse through the manual and catch a few things. i will definitely look a lot closer with this one.

thanks for the help everyone. this is just as important as knowing what "fish-eyes" are!!

I would suggest quickbooks 2002 myself.

We integrate in with any of them and we handle mostly everything else so classic is just fine.

Those of you considering easy route should really do yourself a favor and download a free trial of ours as well. There is no obligation or cost, and you can see for yourself that it is built with better technology and is a superior program.

To say that your program is made on better tech. is ridiculous. You might have a nice program but don't say something you can't backup. Why take a shot at another program. Easy Route is a sponsor of this bb and several of us use this program and are happy with it. The ramp up time and the connection with Quick Book should be looked at in terms of the size of the manual library.

Jut my two cents.

Have a nice day

Hi David,
Chris is not saying Quickbooks is better per se, I believe he is talking about ServiceCEO which is compatible with Quickbooks.
I can't give an opinion at this time about the two, but it's getting tempting to download them both and try them, if for no other reason then to be able to speak about them in this forum.

ServiceCEO is obviously a 32 bit program, while Easy Route is not. Now I'll say this about DOS programs...some of the best ones I ever used were written in Cobol and ran under DOS. I have seen plenty of programs that were 32 bit, feature rich, and full of bugs.

Nothing, is perfect. Nothing. No program will ever have every feature that every user could ever want, nor will it perform ideally with operating systems changing as often as they are.

Now to say it's built with better technology? More current perhaps. Superior program? There are other financial programs that would blow all of them out of the water, but we wouldn't be talking apples and apples anymore.

The best thing any company can ever do is evaluate and choose software products based on the needs of their company. How will the program meet the needs? Solve the business problem (if present) ?? Does it provide the users with an easy to use interface? These are some of the things to think about.

Thanks, I understand what you are saying-Programs are only as good as the information that is put in them-junk in junk out-just that basic.

Try Linux. I am done with Win. based programs.

They are sponsoring the site. I am trying this product. I told them I would give an honest opion good or bad. I have to say. I am very impressed so far.

I will give a full review after I use it for a while. I do encourage everyone who maybe interested to download it. No better time than the winter.

I'm going to start a forum so contractors can ask questions and help each other with it. Insight Direct agreed to moderate it.

P.S. Delanie is doing very well. For those who don't know. She's my first child
