Who Should Get This BBS

lol... That's why I keep the hotmail as a backup. I did email you, and figured you may not have gotten it yet. Sounds like MSN either got hit with the virus, or took email down due to its release. I can't imagine them not having redundancy built in to the servers...
Right now I'm sitting here watching the snow fall, and thinking about the spring. This is a wonderful time of year to plan and prepare for the coming season.
I guess there are a couple of things I want to address.
Dan S.... Just because I have gotten alot of votes, does not mean I think I am a shoe in. Actually, I don't think my chance is any better than anyone else's. My prior posts are just to let the members know where I stand and how I feel, since I do think they are entitled to that. Dan went to alot of trouble to put the BBS together. And we have all put alot of time in up here and we're emotionally invested in it. That's why I posted. I want people to know I care and that if it's decided that I am the one, I want the members to know I'm here for this BBS.
I think those with few votes have just as much chance as those with many votes. You see, it's not just about popularity, it's also about heart, and everyone up here has heart. Everyone. The people who come online know that this is a great resource, and that they can count on it day in and day out. I have found things here when I couldn't find information other places because of the forums and how long they have been out there.
So what do I see for the future? I see an economy that frightens alot of us. I see folks looking for other ways to earn a living and to grow their business. I see ways to expand this BBS and to make it a place that Dan saw years ago it could be, but now is just about ready to become...
Dan had the right idea when he added things like Janitorial and Contruction cleaning and so on... Diversification. Work for winter months... expansion... But we don't get alot of folks from those fields here. Well, that's what I would want to accomplish. I would love to see this BBS evolve into the premier BBS online for any type of interior or exterior cleaning or restoration. That's pretty broad, but think about the job security. Think about the knowledge it would hold and how much more it would mean to you to be a member.
I'll get off my soapbox for a while. I'm enjoying reading these responses, and I do want everyone to know that I would not hold it against anyone or be upset if someone else is chosen. I wasn't when PWI was passed on, and it wouldn't happen now. You see, it's not my decision to make, and I feel the decision should be respected regardless of who Dan decides on. Whoever it is will get my respect and support.
I'm greatful to everyone who feels I'm a good choice. And I am greatful to Dan for listing me there. But mostly, I'm greatful he started this BBS.

Okay here is my take
What ever happens I will be here .
As far as ownership I think It should be divided .
Just like there is a President and a Vice President . That way one can answer to each other vie e-mail and or phone on how this BB gets run .
I also think that Mike is bitting off more than he can chew by attempting to say he can run it all .. I mean why would any body want to have 3 BB's .. I guess to have the title BB king .
Take Greg for example he was wise enough to say he has a BB and that takes alot of his time . Smart move Greg .
This BB should re-main how it is My thoughts are have a President and a VP .. Dan still owns it and is called CEO .. all money from sponsors ....donations etc. should stilll be forwarded to him . I think we have to really watch out for Alternative motives here . I would hate to see this BB get pass to somebody who wants to be a dictator and push nothing but there products.
This BB wasnt built that way and it should'nt end that way .
I am not saying all this to anybody in general .. Change is good if it is approached in a manner of growth.
The theroy of may the best man (woman ) win is inappropriate who ever becomes the new Administrator should look out for ALL members and this community........PERIOD ...... not just for there growth.
In order to devote the time required to be Administrator I think that you should have this BB as your main one of posting . I dont think one should divide his or her time up between Bb's. The problem with that is you set rules on another BB and then you want to have the same rules here .. So when you are a mod or owner of another Bb it would naturally be fit for you to make the same rules here . So when the next administrator happens I think he (she) should step down on the other BB's and stick to this one as to not have controversy between BB's.
This is my opinion Im sure most wont agree with me b/c as you may be able to tell I only have 3 votes ...Thank God I have 3 friends......LOL ..

A board like PWI and my gutter board take very little time to run. I would read all of the posts regardless of whether I was a member, moderator, or administrator.
Boards like this one and Greg's are a little more intense to run. I'm prepared for that. I intend to focus on this board. The others pretty much run themselves.........there's not as much to it as you think on those boards. I'd say I spend about a half hour more per week then if I were not an administrator on both of those boards.
I respect your opinion, Dan S...........but I really dont think two people in charge is a good idea............sort of like the old saying about having "too many people in the kitchen".........its trouble.

I still think you tripped and bumped your head,your family stood by while you buildt this board,they have alot of time in it too.Wouldn't it be nice to set home with them while making money with a bbs,alot of people are making a living with a pc,you can too.
Think the hours your having to work right now has clouded your mind.I have gave alot of things away in my life time,some of the things I wish I had done more thinking before I did.
I still think you should keep it,Think your thinking wrong unless you have another bbs in mind.
Heck why not give it to Ron M....lol,lol,lol,lol,you know what they say about your enemies...give them your headaches.
I do not drink but think you need to go get drunk and see if a hangover would help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks to all that have voted for me. At this time we are not interested in taking on the responsibility of guiding this BBS.
I would however like to see those that are interested in taking on the responsibility give us an idea of how they would continue and what they see in the future of the Power Wash Network.
I also have someone in mind to nominate. I will try to contact them next week to see if they have any interest.

so Mike what you are saying when you were an assistance administrator it was'nt the thing to do ? I thought you were by Dan's side? so why would'nt 2 Administrator's work again?

I think they should Moderate more often
I think if you are the new owner you should'nt be a mod or owner else where. IT causes your ideas to be watered down here.
I think Mods should enteract in the staff Forum >>
By doing this there should be a more productive responce on how the day to day operations of the BB should be.
It should be either a weekly / monthly meeting to talk about any changes and or ideas . Also to vote on post that are negative and just plain outa order.

There's no money in running a BBS and if your wanting it for this reason your wasting your time! I bet I have over a 1000 hours into researching and developing my own. At $3600 a year in advertising thats a whole $3.60 an hour... and thats not taking into account the cost of running it. Talk about retirement potential! Also I don't believe it's possible at this time to merge the boards into one. VBulletin software can only read from one database and to merge the databases would be a joke. Maybe some day... but I wouldn't hold my breath so it would have to run independant.

At no time did I ever have administrative control of this bbs. I was what VBulletin calls a "super moderator". Dan came up with the title "Assistant Administrator".
So, the situation that Dan and I had in the past is completely different then the situation that you are suggesting today.

You would think that would work, but that was the exact concept employed at PWI in 2001........and it was a disaster..........you were there, in that mod forum..........don't you remember?? PWI never did a monthly meeting.........but I dont think that would have helped much.

it was aimed at those people who feel this is a gold mine for someone. It seems that many are more concerned about the possibilty of someone making a profit off of the board than the board itself.

As many of my friends out there have not heard my thoughts on this, here is a reply to questions asked of me:
Does Mark have the time to be administrator of this BBS?
Yes, and I would rely on Moderators for assistance.
Does Mark have the desire?
That is a good question, I certainly am not getting rich as a result of being a sponsor / moderator.
However my reason for being here is not solely for financial gain. My desire is to see the level of professionalism increase. As some of you may recall I was a Contract Cleaner years ago before getting in to the sales and service end of the business, I guess I still have it flowing im my blood!
Yes I do have a desire to continue where Dan Flynn left off, and to with the help of a group of professionals bring this BBS to the Next Level.
What changes would be made?
We would work closely with our moderators to eliminate negativity on the board, we would bring in some corporate sponsors, (pressure washer component manufacturers etc.) and increase our on-line library of help topics in all fields of pressure washing, etc.
