Who's on FaceBook?

Facebook

Any of you on FaceBook and if so...how is it working for you?

I have a fan page, Clean and Green Solutions. Not sure I have ever gotten any business off of it, but it is a nice thing to have and FREE. I do post about once very two weeks on it. I have occasionally had people ask me questions off of it. I am getting a new trailer next week and I plan on putting something on the trailer like "find us on facebook" and see if it does anything. Not sure it would versus when the phone # is on the trailer to and they could cjust call, but with the popularity of theses social networks growing daily, I figure I gotta at least try.

Keep plugging away. I have received numerous inquiries in which some has turned into commercial wash jobs.

It is good for SEO also

If done right, you can build a big "fan" base quickly. For instance, from the moment the page was started it took only 4 months for Cleaning for Heroes to reach the 3,000 fan milestone. You win some, you lose some, but we've had an upward trend the entire time. It didn't come easy, but it can be done. Facebook (for us) has been very valuable in our networking relationships.

Here is a nifty site that has a number of articles you can search for to get tips/tricks on building a fan base.

Torrey,

I'm brand new (virgin) to FaceBook, thanks to the suggestions from several professionals and friends. Please add me as a friend, as I will certainly add you.

I am attending a seminar on Thursday that highlights FB Marketing and the ability to generate business from it. I will post up any helpful insight after Thursday!!

I have a few areas that I have been successful in relating to getting work from FB and exposing my companies services to.

Stay tuned and if others have some pointers....post them up. This could very well be a very active thread!

I just set up our page for Steve Stephens Consulting. I didn't want to do it as a "like" page, but I realized that Facebook rules say you can only have one page per person, even if you want to set up a business page. So I'm having to recruit "friends" to my personal page, them refer them to our consulting page.

Anyone know if there's a better way to do this?

I'm also struggling with my "like" page because I don't know how much personal info to put. I like my personal page because I feel like people in the industry can get to know me, and vice versa. And I think that's a plus in marketing. I'm not sure how to incorporate that into a business page.

Thoughts?

Allison,

FB continues to evolve. I suspect over the months/years it's applications will be changed many times. The FB of yesterday is not the FB of today.

I do not know what the specific rule is regarding how many pages you can have but I have a personal and a New Look Power Wash page. I just never populated the New Look Page yet....I am having too much fun on my personal page. In conjunction with that, I set up Seal N Locks Face Book page for them also...

There are ton of marketing options and FB has great potential in this arena.

Allison as far as I know, that is the only way you can do it. Once a week I go through my friends list and invite new friends to like my "Clean and Green Page". From the way I understand it, your business page will always be tied to your personal page, because you can only get a FB account if you are a person, and how it knows I ahve no idea.

Allison.. just use a different gmail address.

FB ads is where it's at. Much better than ppc because of the targeting and pricing structure. Also, if you have never used ad.ly, you may want to check it out. It's kind of difficult for companies that aren't nationwide or whatever, but if you go nationwide or you live in the same city/area as a celebrity, you DEFINITELY want to check this out: *Removed By User*

How it works is you pay a small amount (in most cases) to have a celebrity tweet about you and your company. It gets in front of thousands of people very quickly.

I don't really like giving this one out and I may just edit this post after a couple days because I don't like EVERYBODY knowing this stuff, but *Removed By User* is another pretty cool, yet cheap way to do some unusual, out-of-the-box type of advertising. Once you use it, you will be hooked and keep using it.

Like I said, check these out right away, because I will probably delete this post or at least those links before long. I don't like competition seeing these.

That Twitter thing is funny. I had a guy contact me about a non-profit autism-related organization of his (I have a son with autism and am a big advocate for that community). He sounded really legit on the phone and said that Angelina Jolie supported his organization. Later, when I went to his website it looked like something a kindergartener had put together. My guess is he used a system like this.

As for the FB ad, I tried creating one. I cannot find a community to broadcast the message to. I can't get pressure wash, power wash, window cleaning, etc. to come up as possible keywords. (I have an autism-related website and have had a lot of success for that VERY cheap little FB ad I run for it, but I'm able to target it to the autism community).
