Ok today the weather is almost 80.0 degees F, we all no this wont last forever in the northern areas.

So what do you do during the winter months??? Keep on washing or wash with a limited schedule (weather related) Or do you have a winter gig???

After my first winter I decided to limit the winter washing to above freezing temps and offer clients snow plowing and salting branching the buisiness making new conections and growing even during the winter months. Oh buy the way do you know the proffitabilty magins for pusing snow?? Can you say put the washer(s) away.

Lets here your ideas,

That's pretty impressive, expecially because of the different user names. Yep became a member on each site about the same time.

At this time of year I can't wait for the seasons to change, gives us a time to recoup and rest our arms. Most of all, gives me time to build some new wash equipment.

Does anyone wash in the winter months. I have a customer that is interested in a winter contract? This is my first winter pressure washing, and it would correspond with the truck detailing and snow removal that I have already lined up?

Also, I was wondering what kind of winterization steps need to be taken? I have a Karcher heated and palletized unit on an open trailer... hoping to enclose that soon.

Sometimes I go to Europe or Hawaii in the winter. My employess love the unemployment. Generally We are off from Dec. 20 - March 1
2 crews and a succesful marketing plan should earn you $300,000 in profits a year
If your doing it right one crew should be bringing in about $2,500 a day more if u only do roofs.

Thats 100,000+ per month in work

Thats why we all became PW isn't it?? Low overhead and easy to train employees. You should be planning a vacation in the winter (after a few years). Become a good buisness person. Work on your buisness not for your buisness, otherwise you might as well work at Wal-Mart.

I learned this buisness from a 64 year old man who works by himself on Industrial brick (Acid Spray). He was doing over $250,000 a year in work as a soul proprieter.

Of course at first it is not so simple so just work in temps above 40 F with wind below 15mph. offer Ice removal (also on the roof), snow plowing, and always sell yourself like crazy.
Be on time, Be prepared, Have a great additude all day, Hit the neighbors on a sale and rehash rehash rehash (Rehash means sell more on a sale to same customer. Get extras provide, maintenence contracts, guarentee your work)

JUst drain all the water from the pump (By pulling the starter until no more water comes out) Then fill it with antifreeze from a bucket and a cut off hose. Then drain the fuel. In the spring change the oil, air filter and plug and you will be golden. You should be doing the filter plug and oil at least once a month anyway. ALso you can avoid tha antifreeze if you can store it inside, that is optimal.

Thanks again... I talked to the customer today, gave him my price and included some other options... add-ons. He was very pleased! above and beyond. I refer this site to peple that I know... even those not in the industry. Thanks again!!!

Does any one know of any company that washes through the winter. Almost all my clients want washing through the winter.

Rebuild fishing reels, new drag washers for customers at area marinas as well as build custom salt water fishing tackle.

Bill you make some good points but I have to say your numbers seem inflated. Perhaps you meant $300,000 in gross billing? There is also another distinction between gross profit and company net profit (also called cashflow). I ran 2.5-3 crews all season. We had a dry season. We had no down time as the phone rang consistently. Company methods for cleaning have been standardized and I would venture to say, we are fairly efficient. I also charge 3 times what many guys on these boards have mentioned they charge. I also keep constant contact with customers via newsletter and maximize every invoice via a la carte add-ons. I also ask for and have a rewards system in place for referrals. Factor all of that and I did nowhere NEAR $100,000 per month.

If you have a teachable system in place that will turn up my productivity to the level of which you speak, I will pay you just about any price you want to come out to PA and share it with us.

Pressure Pro I agree with you two. Can't see how any crew can do those numbers in a week with out burning out/quitting. So what Bill is saying that he can gross 1.2mil per year or 300 000.00 per quarter. If these numbers are correct you must be getting crushed at tax time. What is the taxable income rate for someone proffiting $75 000.00 per quarter??

Im next in line for your marketing / buisiness plan secrets.
