Have you wondered why you have 85 reviews and no posts? I dare say that every reputable deck restorer uses a brightner after cleaning and/or stripping, either citric or oxallic. This is a given.

This may be true for REPUTABLE businesses, but there's a TON of newbies on this site and I think this poll may encourage them to try a brightener or question why we use it.

I'm also guessing that there's a lot newbies on this site or 'interested folk' and this poll can be a learning experience. It's up to a reputable reader/teacher to decide if they want to answer this question, it's not because they assume we know the answer.

Of the 6 pressure washing businesses out here (that I called) only 2 of the 6 knew what I was talking about when I called them and asked about brightener. They may not be reputable, they're most likely towing a Sears Best in the back of their wives car, but who am I to question these 'competitors' ways of washing? [idts]

There's only a few that answered.... but not everyone answered YES.

I use zep deck cleaner(home depot), it is oxalic acid and does the trick...hmmm I wonder if they still make that, been a while!

I use the premade stuff as well. I don't think you'll get desirable results by trying to become a chemist in order to save some cash. I say buy the premade stuff, (what works works, why try to re-invent the wheel?)

Never had a problem yet. Going on 6 years now. Age old arguement. My decks all last 2 or 3 years.

always

SuperDeck (oxalic) Brightner after SuperDeck Cleaner. I will always rinse whatever I touch when it has the word acid in it.

It's real nice to see a fellow SD user! I've been using SD for over 19 years... Oxalic Acid is number one... I just get a kick seeing members using Bleach... You really got to me when you said the Deck Cleaner! you use the powdered in a 5# pail I hope?
