Almost all bricks can be cleaned effectively by using a light buffered acid(Buffered to prevent harm to user) If the brick has a slurry coat on it (usually added for color) you don't clean with acid because this light coating will come off very easily even with just water sometimes, so try a sample area if there is a question. Most of the mold/ dirt will come off the brick with hot water. Then you can follow behind with pump-up sprayer and treat the mortar joints and the bad spots on the bricks. You can also use bleach / water mixture to make sure the mold is killed.
Be very careful, around the mortar joints watch out for blowing out grout. The thicker the grout the more likely it is to be damaged .ie around corners, doors, windows, front steps etc

Walt,
Thanks for the info. I looked at the job today and it shouldn't be to bad. I think if i do you heat on it the brick will clean up ok. The bricks are all inner laced on the patio and porch. It didn't end up being a wall i will just take caution with it. To see if the brick will do ok i will take your advice on the little test spot. Well thanks again and good washing to you.

Thanks D.Martin
