Dan,
I have seen a soot remover, a fuel additive that cleans the burners and coils. Is he talking about de-scaling the inside of the coil, where the water travels? The soot remover sells for about $10.00 per quart. Hope this helped.

This is a fair price, I have this done as a needed by my service company. As a rule we have it done once a year. This process is for the water travel inside the coil.

Good Luck

I Know alot about descaling. I fix pressure washers for a living. The best and fastest way to tell if you need a descale is:#1 Your tip keeps clogging. #2 your volume of water isn't what it use to be. #3 Your unloader Won't cycle as fast as it should.#4 Take a look inside the coils by removing the fitting on the outlet side of the coil. If it has 1/8 in or more of buildup, it is time to descale. NEVER EVER RUN ACID THROUGH YOUR PUMP! Unless you have money to burn.

I got some good advice when i bought my beast 4 years ago: always run the machine back to cold water. Don't shut down when hot. Turn the burner off and let the water run until it's all cooled off. I havent' descaled yet and she runs like a beaut.
