Gas station canopies

A friend of mine is regional manager for a chain of gas stations. He has offered me 34 stations doing nothing but the canopy(around the side of the roof over the gas pumps-the visible part) and the support columns for the canopies. What I wanna know is does anyone have any experience doing this? I know what will get them clean...I'm just debating on whether an extendable wand will do, or should I invest in scaffolding. What do yall think?

i have been trying to get some of those around were in at, but they are contracted out. im going to have to look into that. but when i see them do it they use a wand.

I have done many. They clean fast and are fairly easy to do. An extension wand and low pressure (less than 1000psi) has served me well each time.

Cover the pumps with tarps to prevent electronics damage, be prepared to rinse the whole pad as it will be a muddy mess when you are done.

So many people have asked for just the canopy, but I can not charge just for that due to the mess left behind. Make sure you charge for the rinse.

I have never done a truck stop type place, just your average gas station and no chemicals were needed. Stacks pointing upward may well call for chems.

I have done several as well, Alan is right on tract... A little warm water helps as well... Heavily diesel stained canopies are a PIA to get clean, put disclaimer in contract. We tarp all pumps - Clean them in about an hour tops

I guess I was right on track then....I knew the pumps needed to be covered and when I was figuring up what I might charge, I guessed the canopies would take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. Thanks to you all for the help.
