hey fellow p/wer's how would you remove vin.letters off of a alum. tanker? my thoughts are heat with a zero nozzle or the x-jet. do you think i should use a stripper or some sort of remover? what about the outline of the letters once it's off do you think it could blend in with acid?
im open to your sugg.

Hot water with a narrow tip will take them off. Just take the time to heat them up really good with the water before you try to take them off. As for the ghosting, you will need toeother polish the whole tank, or use acid. Depending on the tank and the companies preference will dictate what you do.

Hello Dan, I just took some letters off of a aluminum trlr. myself this past weekend, took a razor blade and peeeled them right off.It did leave a thin layer of glue behind, which i cleaned up with laquer thinner.I have never tried it with a p/w- it may work alot better. This is the method we always used when i used to work in a body shop for letters, pinstripes, etc. One word of caution though if your using just the blade be very carful sometimes they will hang-there is a small holder available at most hardware stores for a couple of bucks good luck! <FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Well as I do not have a hot water unit yet, I would try using a heat gun to get the vinyl to peel off, and either goo gone or min spirits to clean any gum. I would not use acid as it may actually do more harm than good. If the tank is polished finish, acid will more than likely turn the area white or fog it real bad. But, like others have said thats just my 2cents
