FISHGUY runs things threw his pump that may be OK for some but not all
same with BIGBOY. They both use CAT pumps and they say thats what makes the diffrence in running acid threw your pump.
I have been told that CAT has the same metals in it as any other pump.
So i really dont know.
i will let BIGBOY Tell you how he washes first before i try to say anything
he was the one whom i learned from.
One BIG thing here is LEARNING YOUR ACIDS. THIS IS NO JOKE.
The other is, im pretty sure niether one of them has to recapture there wash water.
If you do then you need to learn a lot more about diffrent ways to wash.
I dont think there way will fly with the place that you would have to take your water.

Okay guy`s I`m kinda` gettin` the 2 stepping thing. Acid+Alkiline+Rinse=Clean. But what is the APPLICATION process?
Both chemicals in pump up sprayers? Spray one on then the other then rinse? Or do I need a different type of machine( a 2 step machine)?
The way I learned it about 1-1/2 months ago, was I sprayed on 1 chemical (Zep Concentrated TNT/ 1- 5gallon pail in a 55 gallon drum, filled with water). Then rinse. The stuff worked VERY well !!
The dirt, bug residue started melting off before my eye`s. It was great and not that much $$ ($56.18 to be exact).
Now I used this only on the cabs of tandums, dumps etc. Rinsed off the frames, polished the chrome, aluminum brite when needed then on to the next truck. Did my "mentor" steer me in the wrong direction? Is he taking shortcuts? I don`t think I`m an idiot, but I really feel like I`m missing something!!
PLEASE HELP!!! MY WIFE SAID I NEED TO START MAKING SOME $$$. And I want to know exactly what I`m doing before I go out demo-ing for people.
I know I`ve been real "needy" so far and haven`t contributed much yet. But I`m sure once I get it down that will change.

Fishguy,am i correct on noticing you have two inlet ports on your pump? how do you tie in the chemicals? i would think with a 1/4 inch supply hose you are somehow actually downstream siphoning. is this correct?. sorry for all the stupid questions,i enjoy all of your posts.

this is what ive learned this far about 1 way to wash trucks
i use a duel lance[its one gun going to 2 side by side pipes-one has a soap tip the other a QD for a 40 deg nozzle] it has a twist handle to switch from the soap nozzle[low pressure] to the high pressure side.]
I have a upstream injection and a downstream injector [all 3 of us have the highside injector better known as threw the pump]
i use the low pressure to apply the acid then twist the handle to use hot upstream soap
then when the cleaning is almost done i walk back to my wash unit and switch the upstream soap to my wax and turn off the heat finnish the wash and when the soap has cleared and the rinse wax has reached the tip rinse the cab first [the water is still warm] go around and finnish the rinse and rinse the cab one more time when the water is cold [it puts a shine to the truck] done start over again on the next
fishguy has a homemade switching system and runs everything threw his pump[he has a cat pump same as bigboy] they feel that the quality of the cat pump allows them to run there acids threw them, same with the coil im not comfortable with that but they are faster then me]
bigboy uses both ways he will do anything to get the job done.
bigboy has a plumbing system that allows him to mix any and all of his chems at one time threw 1 line.
i think fishguy uses the switch to turn the acid,soap,rinse without going back to the truck
that makes him faster
i just started to put the wax in my soap to cut out 1 step so with my system i just need to start and stop the soap i can get a remote for a car to do that and not use the hard wire and not run acid in my machine my crown vic has one for the door and one for the trunk i will hook the other button up to the heater then ill be faster. hope this helps

Timhays yep those chmicals get sucked right into the pump through a 1/4 inch hose that gos to a tee with solenoids on each side . with the toggle swich in the off postion no chems get to the pump but when I flip the switch up or down it opens the soleniod and lets the pump suck chems from the chem tank. Yeah I like my homemade set up. I can fix it just about anywhere from any store except for the solenoids I have to get from grainger. but I keep a extra solenoid setup put together so if something happens I can just diconnect the 3 hoses to it and replace it quickly and get back to work!
I like the remote set ups but they are expensive and if it goes bad on ya you could be down awhile waiting to get your parts . + I dont have to have it work 300 feet away cause I'm only running with 100ft of hose and if I need more I just add another 50ft section of hose and extension cord. you probably build 10 or more of my setups for the price of 1 of those fancy remote setups.
Bigboy are running your soaps and acids though your burnner ??? If so have you had any problems with it eating away at your coils?? What burrner are you using??

Yel running all soaps though the burner,at times I also run acid though it but most all my acids are applied with the downstreamer.No,I have never had any problem with the soap eating my coils,like I said I apply the acid mostly downstream.
All the other powerwashers around here run acid though their burner/pump and by doing it what way they haveta replace a coil usaully ever year b/c of it eating though the coil.
I have both,wayne and brecket burners and if I had to pick one it would be the wayne burner.Knock on wood I've yet to put a transformer on the wayne,think its around 4 years old.
The farm supply stores have the solenoids,they make those things 2,3 or 4 solenoids altogether as in one peace.

I`m getting ready to pick up an account for some front-end loaders. Are these the same type of trucks that I see picking up those large dumpsters w/ forks on the front? Turning them upside down to empty? If so, what`s a good chem.? Stupid question, what`s the body made of? Metal, fiberglass????
