Need Some Lake Dock Advice

I have an opportunity to wash some docks on the lake. I cant imagine the work would be that much different from a deck. My question has to do with what chemicals or regultions you have to use and follow working over water. I knows there are enviromentaly friendly household cleaners on the market but would these work for a dock. Any help or advice would be great.
