I'm looking to get into the business and would like to know if I will need a hot water pressure washer to remove oils stains and the like at gas stations, etc. Or will just a normal cold unit work? Something with around 4gpm and 3-4K psi Also how do the surface cleaners work? Thanks

Ahh oil....... there are few things in life that a powerwasher cant handle but unfortunatly oil stains are one of the trickiest things to get off. first off, As a rule, a hot unit will always clean at a higher level than a cold unit. When in regards to oil stains it really depends on the period of time those stains have been there and on what surface they are on. Ive found that the best way to clean new oil is with CAstrol Superclean(can be purchased at autozone, etc.). OLD OIL stains can be one of the biggest headaches in this business and to be honest other than etching(dont reccommend it), ive yet to see someone take up a 15 year old concrete oil stain that didnt leave some sort of residual shadow. As u gain experience and try different things u will find what works best for you and what u are happy with. When it comes to other oil issues there is no one better for advice than car/engine mechanics who deal with it on a daily basis.

Good luck

Castrol Superclean... is that something that can be put through the injector or do you have to apply it seperately?

(I am putting in a bid to do an Arby's parking lot tomorrow)

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new. When using the Castrol Superclean (or what ever other cleaner) do you use it to clean and then go over the surface agian to rinse? Thanks

CAstrol

I use a pump sprayer to apply it, i usually pre clean the area first so that the castrol isnt cleaning the top layer of sand, dirt, etc. Then i apply the castrol wait and rinse it.

Hope it works for ya, let me know!

Castrol

I tried it because my mechanic uses it in his shop and i figured who better to know about cleaning oil than the company who makes it. lol.

Thanks for the help! I've also been looking thru the northern tool website and I see they have a nice selection of cleaners. They seem to br priced pretty good too, but I wonder if there any good? Any one have good experiences with the "Northstar Pressure Washer Chemical Degreaser" or concrete cleaner version?I also see there's diff. grades, one 5 gallon pal is 29.99 and the other is 39.99.

best way

To see if it has been discussed already is to use the search function up top. Just type in the name of the cleaner and it will bring up any discussions on the product.
