Q: 250 gal chemical totes?

I have found some used and cleaned 250 gal chemical totes with valve and ready for 2" pvc threaded connector for $205 each.

Assuming that they have been/can be cleaned, are there any reasons not to go this route for a water tank for my trailer? Is $205 a good price?

Sounds a little steep to me.

I have heard of them being sold for 50 to $ 100 used..

Phillip, Keep looking you will find a better deal. I have bought new ones for less than 175.00. Check with your chemical supply companies. Ask them where to get them.

Totes

Phillip,
There is a place here in Albany,Ga. you can pick up a cleaned/used tote for about $130.Container waste Services 1-800-535-6691.Just be sure to get one with a Banjo valve, not one of the cheap gate valves.

Please, get a grip. If you can't afford to pay ie. 5-600 dollars for a 500 gallon water tank or whatever size you require, what are you doing in a business where equipment IS everything. Check farm supply stores. You will be pleasantly suprised at their prices.

Black Dragon ? What is wrong with saving a buck. Maybe this is why he is in business. Yes, I do agree with you on buying and spending to buy the right equipment, but these are tanks we are talkin about, Plastic, not equipment. A tank is a tank and can be modified to fit your needs if need be. Why go out and spend $500-$600 if you can get something that will work for way less then that. Think about it.

It really depends on the size of your horse and trailer and what your water supply need is.If the 250 suits your needs I see nothing wrong in the tote, two totes are hard to place in the trailer b/c of the weight factor over the axles and eqt.If more than one tote is needed I'd sudject buying the size needed whether 300,400 and ect.,running back and forth cost money.

If more gals are needed do as Black dragon said, farm supply store,my 550 gal cost me 230

Ronco Plastics carries a large selection of just about every kind of tank there is, at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, the bigger tanks cost a good amount to ship. My 330 from CA to MI cost about $150 for shipping.

Buying local can sometimes be the way to go. Shipping charges can offset a good deal to not be so good anymore.
