Shotgun fungus

It seems the best prevention against shotgun fungus is to advise homeowners not to use mulch(ya,right!), or at least change it yearly. This may be viable for some homes with lots of those black spots, but most homes here aren't bad enough to warrant that type of action. It would be good to recommend some type of fungicide as an alternative. Does anyone know of one for this application that won't hurt the landscaping? I never guarrantee removal, but if the homeowner wants it(extra time=extra$$)I can usually get 40-70% off with a 2507 at 150'.

I live in North Georgia. I too have had problems with "shotgun fungus" I've also heard it called "Artillery Spores" I normally don't see it much over about 6-7 feet. I tell my customers up front that most of these spots will not come off. I normally see these on vinyl siding. I don't know of anyway to prevent these. I feel a proper walk around the home with the home-owner before any work is started is the best method in identifying problem areas then after I finish cleaning I take the home-owner back around the cleaned areas and make sure that I and they are satisfied.

Thanks

That's normaly my procedure also. I wish to give some suggestions to the homeowners on prevention as an alternative. Just thought since it's supposed to be a fungus spore, a funguscide sprayed in the mulch beds may reduce or prevent it.
