Strange Phone Call

Has anyone received a telephone call recently by someone claiming to be Kevin?
I received a call late Thursday night on my private home phone from someone claiming to be Kevin. The guy was claiming he wanted to talk to me about business. He later said something about wanting to talk to me about Decks and Patios. Since we receive a lot of telemarketing calls at the house, I was reluctant to admit I was Richard until I could find out who he was. The guy became very rude when I started questioning about who he was, and why he needed to talk to Richard.
Some of the things he said during the phone call led me to believe he has read some of my posts here on the BBS.
If anyone knows who this might be, I sure would appreciate the info.
Whoever he is, he sounds like a hot head and know it all who doesn't know not to call peoples homes late at night without immediately identifying himself.

Hello Richard .... you may not have your home # but you have got your address work # and even your zip-code..... I have heard of so many things about this internet that would make you want to take off any-info you have about you off.............. hackers can look you up find out how much $ you make ... how many kids you have ....when you go to sleep and >>>>>>>>> how many times ya gotta go......

It's a dangerous thing .... and no it dont happen to everybody ... some folks can go a life time with all the info spread out on everyweb site ...... and some can go a week ...........

By reading inbetween the lines the guy did tell you who he was and why he called,,,,it seems though that you are not trusting as if other people call you about life around you as to why you put him though the third degree as to who he was,,heck I would have hung the phone up too..............like playing cop huh.

Is Richard home...who wants to know....me....why do you want to talk to Richard.......decks and stuff......How did you get my private #.......I just did.....,,,,heck Know I'm not admitting I'm Richard,I've got all the friends I need.

I think you where the one rude not him,you should have told him Richard is not home right now,he'll be home in the morning around (time) if you where in the cop play mood.

On telemarketing calls I always tell them the owner isn't home call back later,I never go over board as to know who you are as to why you called.

If I call someone and they kept putting me though the third degree as to why and why I'm looking for a person I"d hang up the phone and think to myself as to why I thought I even wanted to talk to them,that # would go in my trashcan.

Richard I too get calls from strangers and telemarketers, when someone ask if the Man or Lady of the house is in I always say NOPE then what is it your trying to sell them?

Most hang up, a few will say we are not selling anything but would like you to donate etc. I tell them that the owners are poor and would love to get a donation also and how about a couple hundred thousand dollars, end of call with a dial tone.

Play the game, ask whom shall I say is calling and may I please have your number as they are busy now but shall call you back shortly. You will find most won't give you any information but say I will call back later, that is when you say forget it as they are not about to buy anything.

Now to Bigboy I also don't trust when it comes to the Internet and tellmarketing, I like to buy from companies I see and can walk into a store, not some company that operates out of a house or some far off location.

First off, that's not exactly how the phone call went, but it doesn't surprise me that you would find me as the one being rude.
I don't remember asking your judgement as to which one of us was rude and which one wasn't. All I asked was if anyone knew someone named Kevin from this site that might have made this call.
Big Boy, I take it by your post that you don't know who Kevin is?
You never seize to amaze me with your insults.
I could understand if I started out insulting you, but I don't understand you taking it upon yourself to instigate the issue with your arrogant contempt for cops.

SO, Let me get this right.... a man sits at home LATE one night, minding his own business..., He gets a call from someone who doesn't have the decency to call at a normal hour..., The man becomes suspicious and decides to ask the caller some questions...., now Big Boy thinks the man was rude to the caller.

Now, if the caller would have said, Hi, my name is so and so, and I'm with so and so Power wash company, I'm sorry to be calling you so late, but I need some help......or......I have some deck and patio work I would like you to do...., this call would have went a lot better.

Yes,I do know a kevin,several on the bbs's knows a Kevin,sorry you didn't know him.He seemed to a nice guy himself,the one I'm talking about lived in the crawdad state.

You and I will never see things eye to eye,it's the way we are,you have always thought I was wrong and I always thought you have a sharp tongue.If I make your hair stand on end you do not have to read none of my post,you may be able to sleep better knowing Dan has a button you can select to not read none of my post,its a great tool for people who cann't get along or understand how to talk things though.By reading inbetween the lines on your last post you was biting ya tongue as in not trying to be rude again but it showed in the words you used.Try being a nice guy yourself and stop thinking everybodys out to get you,which they may be in your area,who knows Kevin may be wanting to black ya eye as in not admitting to being Richard in the phone call.
If he's a hot head and know it all who doesn't know not to call peoples homes late at night without "immediately identifying" himself which I think he did in saying he was Kevin which I think he also ran into another hothead know it all.

I love you Richard ,love bugging ya ,love seeing your reply post in all matters...take care and watch out for Kevin,he was a pretty big fellow to my knowledge,he may be big enough to make a fellow eat afew crawdads .

Big Boy, Anybody can insult someone and then turn around and say they were just playing or that it wasn't meant to insult them. It takes a real man to insult someone and admit it.

As for the big guy, I think I'm big enough to take care of myself and, I'm sure not worried about a blackeye. I didn't stay 22 years in my past employment by being afraid of a blackeye. If that's the kind of mentality this guy has, then so be it. If he lives in the crawdad state, it won't take him long to get here.
If he's the one who called me and it takes a blackeye to blow his skirt up, than it might not hurt if he brings a sack lunch because he's going to be here awhile.
See...Big Boy...It doesn't take much to talk a little ????

I'm quiet aware of Dan's buttons, but it would be a lot more reasonable if you would answer your a post with a little less sharp tongue.
I've been around long enough to know when the pot is calling the kettle black.
As for thinking everybodies out to get me....I'm sure there are enough members on this board intelligent enough to pick up on your sly "in your window" comments and that it doesn't have anything to do with thinking someone is out to get me.
It's kind of funny that you always make these smart ??? remarks and then when someone calls your hand on it, you always use some lame attempt to deny your intentions.
It kind of reminds me of another guy from your state that wouldn't admit he was wrong because he didn't inhale or the problems he had with certain simple definitions.

I hate those phone calls though .... when I get a call from "out of area" I love answering them sometimes b/c I act like a freakin idiot (natural huh) ... I talk in a funky voice and try and keep 'em on the ophone asking them all kinds of questions .......like........

That's fine, no offense taken. You have the right to read it anyway you want, but I know when someone has thrown an insult my way.

I've never seen you talk the way Big Boy talks to people, so I really don't have a problem with your opinion. Everybodies got one.

I just don't think it's everyones responsibility to walk on egg shells around Big Boy. From what I've heard Big Boy is a very brilliant man, but he goes around talking like an idiot.
Half the time no one can understand a word he's saying but himself.
I don't know why he gets his thrills that way, but I guess thats his business.
He sure don't have a problem when it comes to talking down to people.
I'm not the only one here on the board that he does this way.
One thing I've noticed about Big Boy is that, if you rattle his cage, you can sure find out what he's made of.

If I wanted to play his game, I could of said "I didn't say anything about him not being a man", but he sure took the assumption didn't he?
As a matter of fact, I can read his post and see where he made several assumptions, but that's OK, thats BIG Boy and we sure don't want to offend Big Boy, he might kick our ???. I suppose I need to overlook his idiocies too cause I sure don't want him to give me a blackeye or send Kevin down here with a HotDog and a Soda.
Gosh, he might just find out I'm scared and that I'm not the Man I "so call" bragg to be. Wouldn't that be humiliating.

Could be a comptetitor wanting to see what your doing and what your charging. They pull that sh..t on me all the time around here. I'v even had one guy give me an address and ask for an estimate. just as i was about to leave the estimate at his house his wife pulled in and asked why i was there, i explained and she said that dosn't make any sense my husband owns his own pressure cleaning company!!! go figure Its a jungle out there. There are way to many companys in my area.

There are those that like me, those that hate me and some in between yet we all do try to see things as the other would.

Richard I can say Bigboy enjoys talking mountain talk but if you ever talk with him on the phone or have a serious Email question to him he would most likely be totally normal with you.

Dan S. and Bigboy got at it once in awhile but remain friends, gad awful thing too~!

I agree with you and Mike. I don't doubt Big Boy a bit. I know he's a very smart person. I've also seen some of his work and believe he does some of the best work I've seen.
My initial problem started when he made up his own version of the telephone call and then said I was the one who was rude.
That didn't set real well with me and things went down hill from there.

I know it sounds like two children fighting over a toy, so I don't mind putting an end to it.
