Trouble With Prospects

Andy's Car Wash

I went out around town the last 3 days trying to round up some business. Boy was I shocked, out of the 40 places I went to, about half of them said that they have an employee wash the vehicles themselves and they are not interested in my services. The other half have a pro doing the work. What do I do? Do I keep at them? Any help is much appriciated because if I don't get some of these locked up I will be forced to hang it up.
Thanks for all the help

Yes by almeans keep going back and trying to take away from pro's.NEVER take the first answer as a NO when out in about looking for new bussiness, sooner are later you'll luck in.The powerwasher will wash more than just cars, look for other things(anything) as your going around town, don't jump out of the boat if you like this type work,,it takes awhile in some cases if your keying on just one type of trade,,,,go getem.

looking for work

when cold calling a picture is worth a thousand words. Get a scrap book of everything you clean [get the co. logo in the pic of any biz. you do.] make a flyer with a before and after photo and what you charged for the cleaning. Most people dont have a clue as to how dirty there place is untill you run the wand over it.
1 thing most dont do is take there rig with them to cold call
If the person lets you set up and take 2 min of there time to SEE the differance they will hire you. Remember lots of people have had bad exp. with non-professionals or have herd horror stories of damage,or shoddy workmenship.
If you get one bad powerwasher do one popular resturant it is seen by 300 people a week or more. That is the #1 place to keep the entrance clean
A good job there means its always clean and you can never tell you were there it just looks good all the time. People always think of clean when they are going to eat.[good thing]
One other thing dont forget the boat docks People spend more for there toys then on there kids. Not only could you clean them but detail them when things get slow. put a flier in a plastic cover and hang it up on the board or post it.
Heres one im going to try today the US MAIL they dont wash there own mail trucks like UPS dose. I here they only pay $3 per truck [they are little] but there are 100 in the lot. 1 guy 8 hrs $300
Ill have to think about that one.

Diversify.
Due to the water restrictions in my area, the calls literally stopped overnight.
Right now as I am writing this, I am printing lables for a mailing,to sealcoat driveways.I know this will sustain me until the calls start up again.
