Hi all. Got a call to give an estimate on washing the inside of a building that was used as a transmission repair shop. Two walls are painted cinder block. The other two walls and ceiling are painted sheet rock.Everything is covered with grim of one sort or another IE: grease, soot etc. The owner wants to have it all cleaned so that it can be painted. My question is can the sheet rock walls and ceiling be safely washed. If so what would you recommend be used to wash everything and how should I go about figuring a price ?The electricity has been turned of.There is a water source.Thank you in advance for your help. Rick T.

Rick, WE did a job just like this for ALLSTATE GLASS,They bought an old service station it was nasty-with grease.Sheetrock walls will clean-up easy..Cut your pressure on your machine to 15 hundred PSI good degreaser and hot water-about 130 degrees..I charged .10 cents per sq ft for that job..Hope this helps you..Best of luck...Rick...R&R...

contact a cleaning supply warehouse, there is a cleaner for removing grease and oil from the floors of garages. You put it on and rinse it off with a garden hose.
i am a big fan of Zep products, if you have a distributor in your area give them a call. They have helped me several times.

Both meathods are fine if the paint is gloss enamal or oil base. But if the paint is flat wall paint, think twice.

If so neither one of those are a good idea.

Remember when mom just had to clean house durring "SPRING CLEANNING"?

You had to wash the walls with a brush a rag and a bucket of soapy water!

You better see what type of paint is on the wall, or you will be using up more labor than you can afford, or you will be paying for new sheetrock and a contractor.
