applying water repellant without stripping old wax

This lady hired me to "re-seal" her deck. It is a redwood deck that was stripped and waxed with plain linseed oil last year. She wasn't happy with the water protection and asked how much for me to add a sealer. I told her that I needed to strip the old finish before I could add a new finish, but she complained about the price and insisted that i just "add a coat" because "she just had it stripped last year" and she "doesn't think she needs to pay for it again", implying that I'm just trying to rip her off .
Any tips? or am I just going to end up doing what i knew I had to do in the first place for half the price?
