How much experience did you have?

I had zero experience...when I started I only took small jobs that I knew I could handle. Mostly ranchers. My first year I only did 10 jobs in the summer as I was planning it only to be a summer business. 6 years later I'm doing 200 jobs in a 5 month season (April 1st to September 1st) and...

    employees

i always try to take an interest in what my customers talk to me about and build at least some kind of small relationship with them. This goes a long way...I always mention to new customers that I am a teacher and will probably be cleaning there house from 3:30-7:30. They always reply with...

Dawn & Bleach? Fume Issues! IS this safe???

I use bleach and laundry detergent. I don't know if the detergent aids in the cleaning, but it does allow the bleach to bond longer to the surface being cleaned before it runs off.

    x jet????

If it's just mold on the gutters increase your ratio of bleach to water and it should get them clean.

    Tide????

If you are downstreaming a water bleach mixture a laundry detergent will help it bond to the siding. But as far as it cleaning anything on it's own, don't waste your time.

    Paying Employees

I find it hard to find a full time employee, since my season is so short. I have trained 2 teachers and 2 state troopers who help me from time to time. I give then 25% of the days earnings. I find this fair since the more they get done, the more we both make.

    Partnering with a painter?

Call a painter with a good name and have him give you a price, then contract him to stain it and mark up the price so you get the money for the wash and what ever additional charges you want to add as a contracting fee. 10% of what he quotes you added to the estimate is fair.

    x jet????

30 plus feet and it sucks more chemicals than the standard black tip.

    Newb Q, Clothing Attire?

When it's cold I wear carhart PVC overalls,a PVC flannel lined coat, hat, rubber palmed work gloves and North Face Water proof boots. When it gets warmer, I substitute the Carharts for a pair of boardshorts. When it gets hot I wear boardshorts and a waterproof vest to manage my nozzles with...

    x jet????

I use the 0040 tip it sucks more chemicals than a 0030 but does not shoot as far. As for rinsing with a 0 degree, that is the standard red tip, obviously only rinse areas that are 10 plus feet away with it.

Hereis a copy of a flyer for a very cheap budget

I agree with Celeste...When I first started out, if I did not have a job I would still be at the local WaWa (convenience store) at 8 am getting coffee with every other contractor, so people would see my rig. I would then drive down Ocean drive from Ocean City to Cape May (about 25 miles) and...

Hereis a copy of a flyer for a very cheap budget

Nice rig...when people see you doing work, I am sure they will approach you and ask for an estimate. It takes time, but after a few years it all pays off. It's good you have another job on the side, be patient. Best of luck, and I'm sorry if I offended you by asking about your equipment.

Hereis a copy of a flyer for a very cheap budget

Priceless, What is your set up like. Don't spend too much on advertising if you are going to show up with an unprofessional set up. You will get more business when people see your rig in action. If you are serious take a small business loan, 5-10K and do it right. You will be more...

    x jet????

I have a 9ft. fixed wand that I got for $60...I only use an 8 ft. step ladder to clean the high spots and an extension ladder to climb up over the rails of 2nd and 3rd floor decks and balconys. Those 20+ ft teloscopic wands look hard to handle...with my new 0040 soap tip I've been soaping the...
