This is how I do it. Once you do it long enough you throw out the square foot stuff. You can look and see how long it takes. Most houses will be done in a 2 -4 hour range. I only use the square footage when doing decks because the extra footage not seen can sneak up on you.

I would spend the extra $400 and get a 4 gpm, 3500 psi, 13 hp, belt drive unit. Definietly worth the extra $400. I would stay away from direct drive pumps.

I take my water softener inside along with my DI tanks. I just blow out all my hose reels with air and anti freeze the machines and coils.

I wash cars at the dealerships and I use over 3000 psi BUT I also wash the cars by hand using a mitt. I use the high psi because it blows off the soap very fast. I usually don't get any closer then 3 feet to the surface.
