as with all corvette's the more orig. the more it's worth.
Anything aftermarket including paint or re-chroming will drop it's value.
Where did he spend the $11,500 ?
4 spd? hard top?numbers matching car?
split bumper on rear-is there a chrome front bumper?
i would think he spent the money in suspension, breaks and motor?
The rear yokes on that car can cost $1200 each.
Are ALL the universals new? What dose the frame look like?
If not matching engine and tranny it's only worth the price to the guy who wants to run it and not as any type of investment. Not that it is any kind of investment unless perfect and ALL orig.
What options are on it when it was new?
The asking price is about the cost of TAX on a new one.
$15,000 is not much as far as new car prices go.
insurance is cheap.
They are fun as hell.
VIAGRA is cheaper and as fun, so im told. Cant buy back time but you can re-live it.
Go for it ,lifes short.

Thanks guys,

So for I have found on the net anywhere from 12000.00 to 30000.00.I need to do the # check thing tho, that ever important to the price one brings.

Ron,its like the VIAGRA I don't need it but want it,I can get either if I want them than again I may need it if I buy the car.

I sorta fell in love with it when I seen it nomatter if it had matching # are not or if it didn't have a motor in it,no what I mean. The red is almost the color of my red truck, they would go good together, sorta like marrying them,no what I mean.I would have to wait a few more years before I could restore the 49 one ton and the 81 mustang,I may as will start a used car lot *LOL*.

I have never liked driving a car, don't like for my hindend to be dat low to the ground nor trying to look dat 18 wheeler in the eye it would be like a pissant running down the road,it maybe like a red fire ant tho.

Hello Bigboy,

Here is a link for more information on Buying an old Corvette. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/3000/guide2.html

You may have seen pictures of my '72. It has a lot of after market stuff on it, but I kind of like it that way.

Was at a local fast lube type place with it several years ago. Guy said he wanted to buy the car in the worst way!! "how much would I take for it?", he said. I told him that I really didn't want to sell it! How about $4000 he started his offers. He stopped when he got to $20.000! I have no idea if he would have paid that much for the car, all he said was "You really don't want to sell that car do ya!". No not really, all we would do is pay some bills, but I will never have another car like this!

My wife wasn't real happy when I told her this story. You turned down HOW MUCH for the Corvette!!! Oh well, that was several years ago and we still have the car. We have owned it since 1985.

This is a picture of it sitting out side my shop.

yeah I see your little red car, thats the one I said my white truck would eat it alive, lol,,it still looks good.

Will I went and someone to drive it home for me about 30 mins. ago, will try take a picture of it and show you tomorrow.I was washing farm eqt. today and all was on my mind was dat little red car.Needless to say I quit alittle early and told the farmer I had something important I had to take care of,I still wasn't for sure if I was going to buy it.Now I'm sure glad I did,I've always wanted a 71 nothing else but a 71.I'm not sure what size motor it has in it,I haven't even drove it yet.I know in 71 you had four different motors you could pick from,I hope its a 350 short block or the 396.

It's not red afterall, atleast not vider red like the truck.Under a moon'lit sky it looks pum'kin orange, under a high bright sun it looks sorta red.Ron,I haven't looked though the folder yet,it came with a folder that has all the work done on it from new, which made it worth more. The underside looked good, altho I replaced the rubbers in the A-frame and changed the champion plugs to AC,which I added it to the folder.I went with them to test drive it after changing the plugs,if I keep that kind of driving up I'll need tires soon,I can still smell rubber burning, lol.I have been offered 6000 more than I give for it,guess one fool ran into another fool huh.Anyway I going to have writing on the back glass which reads "MY Bitch" meaning my dog, lol.

the newbee's get 35 and 45,I get 55 not saying I'm better, its just what I get.I have always been the highest one around, they all stay under my price, even the pro's stays 5 dallors under my price.I told one lastnight I was tired of being higher then everybody else and I was going to lower my prices 5 dallors under everybody else's price,he said he would go up b/c he wasn't making any money anyhow...I know he is lying to me,he cann't bullchit a bullchiter.....I'm not lowering my prices but he doesn't know that,I've done took two accounts back that I give away as to show them I can if I want to at my prices.

OFFICE,NO thank you, they are trying to get me to run for county judge, guess I should just to get my driveway paved, lol.Do not let my way of talking fool you,if I want a peice of the action I know how to get it plus I know how to get reed of it if I don't want it and get it back if I need it,you know like a monkey on a grapevine.I learned how to read people and when you can do dat the book is yours if you want to read it,some are not worth reading *LOL*,,,,,I'm a hunter not we'zel.

Bigboy for County Judge, hmm , they would call him "The Washin Judge".

He would make the inmates wash trucks as probation, if sent to jail he would have them brush them!

Can just see it now, WHIP in hand, shotgun leaning against his rig and smokin a stoggie.

ha,I had rather have a DO'BE than a Stoggie.

heck if everybody thought they where going to have to brush trucks they'd never get in jail, dat would be indecorous to them.

Yel cann't you just see me setting behind a desk feet upon one of the draws telling everybody to kiss my hat, lol.

I said when I took off the vest and tie I'd never wear another one but when washing farm eqt. in the mud and its down around 28 degrees I get to thinking I was a fool for ever saying dat.It was 29 this morning when I started with dam north wind at 22 mph making it even colder.I know dat office would be warm or cool ever which one you wanted but I can go home anytime I want as to what I'm doing now.Do not hardly ever answer the phone,I let the talky box take a message and I know dat judge days never ends,I'd choke to death wearing a tie dat long.

A truckdriver told me today he was going to put his A John Deere in the Xmas parade and wanted to know if I was going put the stingray in it.I said heck NO,I'd lose every account I had if I did,I'd have to go down on my prices too.I told him I was having to eat Viennie's now and if he wanted to eat supper with me he'd have to bring his own Viennie's.I also told him not to go around telling everybody I had a vet either, its not going to look good me driving around in a vet on Sunday evenings while them lowballers are still working.Luckyboy Would you believe I've turned down running for mayor for several years now and I live in the county,I ant moving or is dat aren't....really I don't think you believe me when I say if I want it,me get it,if me want it,,,no no no no me don't want bushes job either *LOL*.
