A few questions for the wise

Hi everyone,
I just registered on here, but have been reading for a little while. I am starting a small business here in small town America in south Missouri.
I have a few questions that I think most people can have fun answering.

1. What made you decide to go into Pressure Washing and how did you make your start?

2. Does anyone know of any distributors in St. louis or Cape Girardeau, MO

3..Where do most of you purchase your chemicals and acc.? Online or local?

4. Is there any other online areas dealing in PW that you frequent?

Thanks ahead of time, I look forward to talking with you all.

bad to good

I couldn't help but tell this story.

My 15 year old son had only been living with me for 5 or 6 weeks when he was expelled fron school for having a pellet gun, scales, and baggies. I only let him out of the house for an hour a day (just like in jail). No phone,TV or internet. That went on for about a month and a half. Had to do something more productive. I told him the only way he was aloud out was if I had some work for him to do. So I borrowed a gas pressure washer from a friend and made him clean a deck for some retired neighbours. On the second day another neighbour came over to find out what the noise was all about. When he saw the differance- he asked how much I charge. The rest is history.

My son was given a choice right at the beginning. He could be paid by the hour or own a piece of the pie. He chose the pie. He owns 25% of the business.A few years later, he's making a very handsome income, and driving a new full size ext-cab 4x4, pulling a 6x12 covered trailer, and loving it.

I couldn't be more proud of my son.And yes he did eventualy graduate. I remind him every now and then that that screw up that he made has turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us.

To respond to question 4. I frequent The Grime Scene all the time

Good story

Dang thats good, Good to hear a happy ending to what sounded like a rough time. What got me started wanting to do this was me and my wife just bought a house that had sat empty for almost a year. It was a foreclosure and the outside was a complete mess, well I borrowed a little pressure washer from a guy I work with and started using it to clean up my brick patio, and to my complete surprise it was just completely unreal the difference. His washer was only a little bitty electric unit that had a adjustable wand on it, I had to adjust the wand down to like a needle of water to get it to clean the brick. Well it didn't take long and his washer broke, (a crack on the side of the pump where a plastic bolt went in) he was really good about it and said no big deal, if it broke on me then it would of on him. So I went and bought the biggest electric one that I could get and finished my patio, fence, driveway, house, gutters, sidewalk, and deck. Completely amazed the entire time about the difference that it made. Now that everyone I know has seen the difference they want me to their houses. This week I should be buying my first big gas powered unit. I am planning on working on friends and family first to get better used to the bigger unit and the attachments. I am really good friends with several real estate agents that tell me I could be stacked up with work as long as I maintain doing good work.

Just a friendly hello

Hey everybody,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I've been washing for about 10 years but I am currently trying to start my on business. I'm calling it HI-TEMP to try and convey the use of hot water just by hearing the name. I reallly don't have any questions worthy of posting at the moment but if anybody has any tips on how to get over the fear of drumming up business or how to set up appointments with potential customers your advice would be welcome and appreciated. I look forward to talking with you. [hello]

P.S. I sometimes don't get on the computer for a few days if anybody tries to contact me I WILL reply it just might be a day or two
