A powerful force

I have a 300 gal water tank mounted on my trailer. Many times I have finished up jobs and still have close to half of a tank left. when I am going through town and have to stop for a lot of stop lights the water in the tank moves back and forth I feel like I am in the ocean. I never figured water in a tank could rock a whole truck back and forth. Or is my rig the only one that does this? see ya later.

The only way you can eliminate the movement is to have you tank full or empty. The main storage tank on our primary truck is cross-baffled. It is a rectangle 1000-gallon tank with baffles going both ways. We can still feel some movement but very little! Our tank is over 30 years old and made of steel. The folks that own it before me did not line it and always left several inches of water in it!!

We have been struggling with patching leaks for about 12 years now (metal to thin to weld). Have a bid from a local sheet metal shop to replace it for about $8500 with a stainless tank. Plan to get it done this fall.
