Question: How can rust stains be removed from a concrete floor?
Answer: The procedure recommended by the Portland Cement Association is to dissolve 1 lb. of oxalic acid powder in 1 gallon of water. Liberally soak the stains and allow solution to remain in place for two to three hours. Then, rinse well, scrubbing at the same time with a stiff broom. Oxalic acid is sold as a wood bleach in hardware stores and building supply centers. Follow package directions carefully.

I've had good luck with DR-60 from Dominion Restoration. On really heavy rust stains a
2-3 time application has always gotten 90% or better of the rust that was there.

I picked this info off of their web site . Since so many of us now clean decks and have oxalic acid if you put it on the rust stain first and clean it last it may build some dwell time .

Just a note, we have had very little luck if any using oxalic acid on rust.

I have had excellent results with Rusraid. Use full strength and spray on and wait 3 - 4 minutes and reapply if heavy rust. Works on brick, concrete, vinyl, gutters, stucco, wood. I get it at Lowes' for about $7.00 per gal.

Most of the guys around here use Muradic Acid you know the stuff the massons use to remove splatered mortar from the concrete. It works great.
