Advice/Cautions on Steaming

I just got a Jenny 200C as payment for a home pw. I didn't even think it was a pw until the old guy who gave it to me turned it on, it is almost an antique I'd say. It is a little jimmyrigged, as I think it must come from the 60's. It says on the machine that its a steam cleaner and hot water pressure washer, but since the jimmyrigging it only has one setting. There are a few things that don't run perfectly on it, as expected, but it does work! I did the trade because I have been looking for a cheap way to expand my service line, particularly cleaning out local green compost bins that get dumped every 2 weeks by the local garbage company. Its a Go Green initiative here, and presents an opportunity. I always believed I needed a hot water pw to do it properly, psi/gmp aren't important for this.

With that said... Is anyone familiar with this kind of machine, as there are some problems with it I can't figure out? Info on the web is nonexistant for this old model, even on Jenny's website.

Also, I know there is steam being produced when it runs, so I assume it is a "steamer", more than a typical hot water pw. Are there things I need to be becareful of if I tried to use it to clean vehicles, or remove snow off roofs in the winter (I've seen it done), etc.? I'm a little nervous to use it incase the high heat does damage. This is my first exposer to using hot water/steam.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Jonathon Smith
