To get started you can print a flyer up on your computer,I use print shop.
Take it to staples or what ever and have a thousand printed black and
white, color ink is way to much money but you can use colored paper for a
penny more than white so it comes out to 25 or 30 dollars. Then go put them out. What I have done is put them in the newspaper tubes, just driving through your targeted areas.Your not suppose to use the paper tubes because they are the property of the paper. But in 12 twelve years I have never had a complaint.NEVER EVER put them on or in the mail box.
Place an ad in your local news paper.I have had very good luck doing this
and now word of mouth has taken over.Answer your phone company name. This is how I started, got busy, and stayed busy.I charge by the job
on gutters in other words an average ranch home I charge $60 and it takes less than an hour.

What is a lowballer ?

Someone that saturates the market with low pricing. Usually, these types do not stay in business long but ruin the market short term. For the respect of the industry, an individual starting up should charge market rates for the area that they cover.

Basically, $60.00 cleaning gutters anywhere in the Contenential United States is considered lowballing. Is $60 good money for 1/2 hr work. Absolutely, but for those of us that run a business doing this full time....It's peanuts.

The national average is $1.00 per linear foot. Most ramblers have at a minimum of 90 linear foot. Besides you should have a minimum of at least $80 for showing up.

$60.00 IS LOWBALLING WHERE EVER YOU LIVE

Man that hurts Gordon!..

Prices on gutters vary where ever you go and depend on lots of factors. Most of my gutter cleaning prices are under $60 as long as we can walk on the roof and do the job. If not, we charge probably triple the price. We do most of our gutter jobs in about 10 minutes though and we do a very heavy bulk of gutter cleaning. We usually make really good money per hour on gutters but it's because so many of our clients lived so close to each other.

I've got companies around here running prices of $25 and up, they don't charge that little but they advertise it. Which locks both of us into a pricing standard. Both of us have been in business for a long time too and we both do other services and use this almost like a lost leader.
He asked if I wanted to buy him out a few years ago and maybe I should have but I decided against it. We do talk quite a bit and If I can find the information you've mentioned we can chat about it and see if there is some type of standard in the area. Maybe we will both just pull our prices out of the papers and price over the phone, that will solve the pricing issue.

I've slowly been raising our prices but I've never heard of an industry standard for gutter cleaning. Of course I've never really checked into it either, but I think I will. If you know of any good sites for that kind of info let me know

I just charge what the clients will pay and then use that to work my way into power washing and other services for them. The other services are priced at standard rates if not above other companies prices.

My starting price for a small, single story house for gutter cleaning is $75. I figure it costs me at $720/year to advertise it in the YP, plus gas, insurance, etc, that I cannot do for less at the volume I currently have. Maybe if I get more gutter cleaning work it would be different, but for now, it's not.
