Airless sprayers

I was wondering what a good set up of an airless sprayer was. I started a business last summer and did several fence stainings by hand which took a lot of time. I would like to know what I need to have (psi and type of sprayer). Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi..well I am new to this site as well (2 months) but from what I have read and been told, there is a pretty solid piston driven sprayer by Wagner. It is the model 1720, and it seems to work very well for my needs, and those few contacts I have that do this type of work. While I do not have a ton of experience with this sprayer, I was told by quite a few people that this will work very well for my needs and last a long time if taken care of. It retails for around $450. I am sure there will be more experienced guys on here that can give you a better/different suggestion but thats my 2 cents.

I use a graco bought from home cheapo I mean depot. I paid about $ 600. for it and it works great. But remember, you have to clean it everytime you use it. I have had it for 2 years and never had a problem.

Regardless of what type of sprayer you get make sure it has a pressure volume control. I used to use a cheap Graco from Home Depot that created a LOT of overspray. I met with a GRACO rep and he showd me the advantage of a dial down pressure. I bought it and I estimate that I saved about 40% in material waste last season. It was money well spent to get a good sprayer!

Spray Tech

We use spraytech sprayers (2) of em. I have had graco and wagner and neither compares to the problem free spraytech. The key to any sprayer is the cleaning after use. Lowe's carries the spraytech. The model number I am not sure of but make sure like Mark said you have a pressure control valve on the one you purchase. We do not only deck staining but have painted interior of houses and have used the same sprayers. The pressure control valve is a much needed accessory.

One of the biggest differences the higher priced models offer is the ability to operate more than one spray gun at the same time.

Also, the amount of usage is important to consider when buying a sprayer. If it will get daily or heavy weekly usage, than a higher grade model is indicated.

If only light or personal usage, than a lower priced model may well suit the bill.

It is also important to understand the appropriate spray tips that are used for differing materials.

Ease of clean up is nice to consider, because if it ain't easy to clean, you aren't going to like using it.

I only use a sprayer 5-6 times a season, so my Graco Magnum 7 sprayer from HD works great for me.
