Another Virus GONE.SCR

This virus just came out today and it landed in my box from my sister in-law. I don't think there is a fix yet. But my Outlook program blocked because it looked funny.

The email says HI in the subject line. On the inside the message says

How are you ?
When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you
I am in a harry, I promise you will love it!

The attachment, if you right click on it has the name gone.scr it's made to look like a screen saver file. I just saw a report about this on Tech TV. This is a pretty bad one. It will delete firewalls and anti virus software along with other file on your hard drive. It also will send to everyone in your box.

I called my sister in-law she said someone at her work open it. So it spread to all the computers and started to send out to contacts in all the employees’ mail address books.

Just don't open anything unless you contact the person sending it and ask them if they did.

This is the worst I have seen it. I have caught more viruses this week then I have in years.

Dan and All,

Most often, these virus/worms will come from someone you know....propagated thru their address book.

Two important points...... Keep virus signatures updated, and don't open any attachments, period.

There really is no valid reason to open any attachment, unless you knew that it was coming, and know exactly what it is.

Who really cares about stupid screen savers, or programs that do some useless function? It's not worth the risk.

And also, in spite of all your diligence, it's still important to regularly backup your system, incase something should slip thru and damage your system. It's still far easier to reformat your hard drive, and reinstall your backup, rather than deal with the heartbreak of lost/damaged data.
