Any Solo Workers Out There?

I'm currently a one man operation and feel like it's getting to be too much. It's been difficult finding a dependable helper which forces me to continue like this.

I'd like to take a poll and find out how most of you work: solo or with helper? Please share your experiences.

Thanks.

I have had the same problems, i cannot keep a good employee to save my butt. i have lost alot of jobs this year because i could not do them efficently as a sole worker. i have now decided that i will only take on what i can do myself. dont fret though you can still make a good living and have a thriving buisness if you target the right market and do it well, gain a good rep and go from there.

I work solo. No, not a weekend wonder, just part of the American Free Enterprise system. It is designed just for folks like me.:>:

3-two man crews. In doing hoods in the early- AM/nights along with the safety of my crews in mind, 2 man crews only. One guy on the roof and the other inside making sure all holds up.

Just me and my partner here. Of course that is only when I can get Gloria out of the truck. She stays in there doing her nails, talking on the cell phone, reapplying her make up and thinking of the next order she is going to bark at me!

p.s. You guys KNOW that I am only kidding right? Running with my tail between my legs!!!

Dennis, you better run...

Seriously, we've often wondered how in the world someone could handle this job alone.
We work as partners 50/50, although Dennis does do most of the heavy work (Don't let him tell you differently)!! We both work hard, but we both love it. Excuse me now, I have to go do my nails. :)

have a great day and GOD bless!!!!!

[I work solo and its nice because i dont have to worry that my employes are doing a good job plus i dont have to pay anyone. No workmens comp, also i know that the job is getting done right. It is alot of work though to work by your self because some jobs i do during the day and then the same night ill have to go and wash sidewalks late at night. But i quess thats how it is when you run your own bussiness!! Its not an easy job. Thank god for my girl friend to do the paper work that is not my field of work.

Glenn I work solo, but someday I will need a full time helper. The few times I have so far I have need help I just picked up day labor, some are good, some lazy, all pretend not to know English, yet they know what I say.

If I need a hand and the wife is not busy with her work she would help me, might have to pay her but what the heck, better her then someone else.

At times-I wish that I didn't have employees-but I could not even come close to serving my account without them-I treat them well, however I want thing done my way or give me a better plan. We service well over 400 food service units at night in all types of locations. My employees are very good and I have limited turn-this is due to one big factor - luck and more luck, and how I treat them-I hope!

If one is to grow, you can't do it with a solo operation. That is zero growth and no time for the family and all.

Good Luck

Ok Jon, you found us out; I am Dennis' mistress, but don't know how much longer we can continue like this. His hose gets so hard.. to hold with a whip in the the other hand, not to mention how hot it gets in those full leathers and if OSHA ever caught me on the ladder with those stilletto boots, it would be all over! Anyway, Denis is doing a great job, even with that blindfold on, so I haven't had to use the whip in quite a while!! Talk to you all on chat tonight (Unless he gets to me first)...Gloria

Jon I don't own the business I just work there. If I did have enough money, I would be the best friend a mobil wash guy could have. I don't believe in charging outragous prices to the guys that I depend on for a living. I believe in a fair price for parts and service. But the job I have now, I cannot control the high prices and, I loose alot of sales because of it.
