Friends,

What is the lowest temperature and what sealers have you used to perform deck restoration? What about the drying times? Were you satisfied with the results?

Just wondering just how far you have pushed the envelope!!

Thanks,
Roy

From what I have heard about Ready Seal, it doesnt matter what the temps are, as long as the wood is dry enough (12% moisture or below). The colder it gets, the less likely the deck will be dry enough though.

Nighttime temps affect it more then day........if really cold at night, you get frost, which gets everything wet.....

Personally, I seal no later then November here.......pick up again in late March/early April.

50 Degrees

I never apply below 50 degrees, or if it is going to be below 40 out within 8 hours of the application. I never apply in the direct sun light. I use a product by ISK Biocides Inc. called Swedish Wood Oil. 2 applications within 18 months and it will last up to 5 years (not the tint but that repel rate).

hi Roy

Our season runs from April - October, on the average that is, so yes your correct. I do 9 months worth of work in those 6 months to make up for our lack of warm weather. The web site is

Tim I use Dekswood® from flood. I spray it from a 5 gallon hand pump sprayer and let it stand for 15 minutes then scrub with a brush then power wash the deck. I wait at least 36 hours to apply my product.
